Hi Guys does anyone have a recomendation for sensible priced alloys in the sizes below

7,5x16" ET 25 front with 225/45-16 and 9x17" ET 33 with 245/40-17 rear...

I got a quote for just under 2000 from imagewheels.co.uk which is way to much, 1000 is enough for wheels,,,

I have Image wheels.

They are pricey but superb wheels.

Pre Tango treatment.

There's a couple of sets of SP12s being advertised at the mo, which although slightly off the sizes you specify do work really well on our cars. But, I've not yet seen one on Images that I didn't like the look of either smile

My wheel and tyre package came in at around £650 from Demon Tweaks ,Pro Race 1.2 but my rears are only 8j ..plenty wide enough for 245`s.

I have several sets of Pro Race 1.2 for various hill climb tyres, loads of choices of rim width and they will manufacture to your specified offset and fixing hole requirements. Cheapest place to get them seems to be Halfords, if I remember correctly they were about 400 quid a set. You need to know exactly what you want and explain it several times, unless you have a Citroen Saxo with a big exhaust they seem a bit confused. If the wheels are coming on and off lots of times it is worth paying a bit extra for steel inserts where the bolts contact the wheel.

but 1.2s don't come in 16x7.5 wide for the front and 8 is still narrow for a 245 and removes a sound option of 255 on the rear. As with most things in life if you cut the quality of the spec and compromise you can save money.

Nice style, not dissimilar centre pattern to mine. Good colour choice as well.

What tyres are you fitting? What sizes did you go for?

Just picked my wheels up, had a set of Toyo R1Rs fitted that should be awesome on the road and track!

No, as I mentioned above, it's acceptable but not perfect, eg: http://www.toyo.co.uk/tire/pattern/proxes-t1-sport

What are your main requirements? Comfort, width, performance? What's your suspension set up with regards to clearance, ie height and stiffness in relation to how you drive?

and plenty have found 265s to be OK. The difference is in each car and driver. How stiff is your suspension, how long are the springs, how hard do you drive and finally is your body mounted centrally on the chassis?

How big do you want to go?

Measured my rims when the tyres were off yesterday.

Front, 8 1/2" wide
Rears, 9 3/4" wide.

Rear, Tyres, 255/40/17 but might go to 265mm next time.

Fronts, ". 235/40/17

Just for road work I wouldn't go below 8 "/ 8,1/2"

bearing in mind my posts above I think either your original suggestion or maybe change the rears to 255/40s.

Start to look at the make and model of tyre available: not all sizes are available in all models.

The supension is designed for the tyre to clear the arch(fit inside) ! not to lift the ride height and stiffen the suspension so the tyres do not reach the arches .

They seem to fit to begin with then when you drive you find out !

Lift the rear end up and let the wheels drop ,you can see how close they are to the outrigger. Jack up one side ,the side wall catches the outrigger ..

I`m not willing to start grinding ,hammering outriggers and removing fibreglass matarial.

Which is what I did, an easy evenings work.

Not sure about my new 235 fronts but I will be fitting them tomorrow, (in the garage smile).
