TURBO kit any update yet??
Discussion
The Powers one is nice and unobtrusive, coupled with good electronics, if you have a desire for instant big figures, easy way to achieve it, and as I've discovered the boys not just Dom looks after you, I owned a Jag now they charge 100 quid an hr so even tvr tax doesn't seem that outrageous. I'm sure there are others who can do it just as good but they hav'nt yet so if I had a few bob I'd defo go for it. S/C seems over the top for a road going version to me !

As it stands power are the only company with a tried and tested product available on the market.
I'd disagree, Eann has been developing and testing his installation for more than two years on his own standard engined Chimaera 450 so if anything it's had much more development than the Powers one.Edited by V8 GRF on Sunday 20th January 13:44

He was aiming for £3k but I need some updates as he was intending to add a Megasquirt as a fuel controller into the options as a plug'n'play replacement for the Lucas.
If he does not have a price how is this available to the market? It might be coming to market but as I previously said the only company who have a tried and test product available to buy now are TVR Power

I really do have to ask- should you really be recommending a product that you don't actually have fitted to your car?Edited by V8 GRF on Sunday 20th January 13:44

I really do have to ask why, whenever Eann's name is mentioned, you have to come out from under your rock?
Blitz, are you an ex-wife or something?

Oh I like living under my rock and popping out once in a while just to give you a little poke to keep things straight after past fiasco's. You side stepped the answering the questions then as well
On a more serious note, putting a turbo onto a TVR and selling as a workable solution to sell to Joe Public is it is no mean feat. I think generally people under estimate just whats involved, and just look at the price. You have to consider the increased cylinder pressures and temperatures for all conditions the engine might meet to prevent detonation and engine damage, plus the requirement for increased cooling. You need an accurate fuel map and ignition timing system for a range of ambient /engine temperatures, and air densities (should you drive over the Alps), plus ideally a knock detector system. On top of this you have to try and come up with a catalysts system that will fit and pass emissions in the MOT with these new maps. This is so much more that a quick trip around the block that feels great to sell a workable, engine safe product. If Eann can do all this with his facilities , I take my hat off to him.

I spoke with Eann at great length on the phone about his kit, and came away extremely impressed.
It's clear to me he has completed all the detail & development work over a significant period, his approach seems to have been both cautious & extremely thorough.
I know people that have been in his car, and everyone to the man has come away enormously impressed.
I've never met the man in person but I try to take people as I find them, I found Eann extremely courteous, knowledgeable and honest about what he's created here.
I asked as many probing & challenging questions as I could, everything was answered in a fashion that convinced me this will be the next upgrade for my car.
If you have the extra funds & want a fitted, drive-in-drive out fully supported turbo installation then go to Power.
But for the man on a budget that wants to attempt a semi-diy turbo project using a proven kit, the prices & information provided to me by Eann makes his turbo kit the best power adder per £ by a country mile.
If you already have an after market engine management system (especially one that supports boost control) the man maths becomes even easier to justify.
For me, at the prices he quoted, Eann's turbo kit offers an irresistible package.
I'm 100% ready to buy it today, but if Eann needs a bit more time for whatever reason, well that's OK with me too.

stuff
No past 'fiascos' as you well know just a very old prototype and the axe you like to grind despite loads of satified customers.Have you asked Dom if he's done everything you suggest on there, because I know the answer is no. Also I wouldn't call several years, a few thousand miles and several mapping sessions a 'quick trip round the block'
Now why don't you toddle off back to the Ginetta forums where you belong, there's a good chap?

Take it from me, Eanns a top bloke. Pay no attention to the troll. Seems another reasonable post is destined for the waste bin.
