Hi There, this might seem like a stupid question but can anyone tell me if there is a simple way to tell if the pre-cats in my 450 have already been removed. I realise the exhaust note volume would increase accordingly but this is the first I've owned & the previous owner didn't know. I haven't had the opportunity to compare my exhaust note to another with pre-cats still in so can't compare. I've read that the easiest way to increase exhaust volume is to sleeve or part sleeve exhausts in silencer but think I prefer the pre-cat removal as this may help to decrease heat build up under bonnet whilst still meeting emissions limits etc. I'm quite able to remove manifolds etc. but just wondered if I can save time if possible. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Take out the lambda sensor and poke a wire coat hanger (or equivalent) up the manifold

Thanks for help chaps, pre-cats now removed. Left manifolds in-situ (still a pig of a job though !) mind you starting up with no exhaust on to clear out manifolds turned a few heads !. Still, first proper job completed in 1st time TVR ownership, now what's next ?
