Evening all,
I have just noticed that the little plastic connector that emerges out of the black metal mesh below the windscreen has snapped off and therefor squirts water straight up into the air! It may still work if I sit at around 100mph and allow the wind to blow the water back on to the windscreen, otherwise I am left trying to figure out how to access it. Part of the connector is still inside the rubber pipe that runs up the wiper arm, and the other part sheared off where it enters the wire mesh. How do you get behind the mesh to replace it?
I do hope this isn't another one of those jobs that involves 5 hours labour and a 50p part.

Could be a pain. Alternatively you could replace your wipers with ones that have the water jets on the wipers. Just a case of simple plumbing then.

This may be the job that requires you to cut a hole in the fibreglass from behind the dashboard - nightmare job.
Maybe others can verify ?

Have been breaking my Chim for spares so can have a good look at the situation when i'm next at the garage. I have the tub completely stripped back so should be easy to see.

That would be a great help.
Having had a quick look in the garage, it appears that the part located within the mesh would prise out with a screwdriver. However I suspect all I would achieve would be to pull the broken bit out of some pipework that runs underneath the mesh and make it very difficult to access/fit a new replacement part. I may give the superglue a go, but I'm not to confident.
If you could confirm the likely implications of me prising the broken bit out through the mesh that would be a start.

David Batty managed to replace both of mine after I'd snapped them off without drilling holes in the bodywork so it can be done - I just don't know how. :-(

Thats brilliant Jon. That was just the photo I was hoping to see, and not a hacksawn bulk head!
I suppose it's now a case of a 50p part and £8 postage!
Thanks again.

How did you get into the box section to get at the wheelboxes?

Cheers

The assemblies that comprise the windscreen wiper shaft and the toothed wheel that drives it via the flexible wiper drive cable...

Cheers

Ah, i think the whole mechanism draws out through the hole by the wiper motor. I imagine there is a technique to this though as i had a quick attempt and lost interest!,

Sorry, I thought it was the plastic pipe below the plastic part shown that had come off. If that comes off and drops or snaps/perishes, I think that's when you have to get into the bulkhead area.
