Scared me sh*tless!
Discussion
Heading into work this morning - about 100 yards from work turned into the side road to head across the front of Argos and Next and the old b*tch decided to try to kill me ... throttle nailed wide open and she headed off to headbutt the side of Homebase.
Thankfully a kerb and a rather fortuitously placed very thick bush (/me awaits the smutty comments) halted my endeavours to nip into Homebase's customer toilets without going through the doors ...
I can only assume that the drivers side mat had rucked up and blocked the return of the throttle but - given the cloak of stealthy silence that my chosen daily driver travels under and the fact that it occured almost immediately outside where I work - of course no-one saw what happened and there weren't people hanging out of the windows watching me extracting the belidgerent old b*tch out of the bush.
Oh well - looks like no damage done but feck me that scared the crap out of me!

Come on Phil, it wasn't the mat was it?
It was the 229 BHP
It was - I was feeling so insignificant beside all you big number boys that I just wanted to end it all... It was the 229 BHP

Apparently the old girl was loud enough that the whole of our admin and sales departments thought that there was someone outside doing doughnuts!

Had mine do this once at 140 leptons on the motorway, chasing down a LEXUS LS430. He backed off for traffic, I lifted but the throttle stayed wide open. Turned out the engine mount had sheared, the air intake had parted from the filter, and some crap had been hovered up into the plenum which then lodged in the wide open throttle.
Now that was a brown trouser moment.

Ok, Phil, just so you aren't disappointed.........trust you to go head first into a bush.......was it at all ruffled by your sudden and unexpected incursion?
Yes - several comments have been made about the severe pounding that I gave the aforementioned bush ...... but one of the wags that I work with - whilst I was being taken the p*ss out of last week - chimmed up with "Well ... could've been worse ... you could have buried it into the side of Paul's N420..."

Pfft! You can bloody talk... "Ooops! Too much!"

I must dig that clip out and stick it on Youtube sometime.

Now ... I'm heading off up north for a few days for work and my roof panel is up in teh flat - dare I risk leaving the old girl with just teh soft cover on?
