Has anyone fitted the TVR Power Wilwood front brake upgrade kit? Would phone them buts its Saturday afternoon, search is still down so can't check back easily for previous threads, presume these will fit in the standard 500 Estoril 15" front rims? (they're 298mm discs)

Can anyone with this kit recommend it?

I know there's loads of threads about front brake upgrades and the usual Cosworth cheap DIY alternatives but I'm looking for something I don't have to faff about with from a recognisable manufacturer/supplier

Have a word with my pal Perry, (wadsapple) I believe he fitted a set.

I know he tried a few different upgrades and was less then impressed with some!

Hey Chilli!

I bought a set of calipers, discs and pads from the Dutch fella and did the 888/887 caliper "cossie conversion" - all that needed doing was the two bolt holes on the hubs for the caliper bolts drilling out to 10mm instead of 8mm IIRC.

I've thought of doing either the WMS or even the proper TVR caliper upgrades but the big advantage of the cossie conversion is that the pads are available at just about every motor factors whereas I've always been a bit dubious about availability of pads for "obscure" calipers.

Just a thought if that sort of thing bothers you?

Thanks rigga, I'd checked out the bigbrake site, they do the Hi-Spec brakes which I had pretty much decided to go for, but for some reason my confused mind seems to have settled on Wilwoods (subject to good recommendations and/or a chat with Power). I'll have a look at the reyland site though...thanks,

Hi Phil, I'd considered going down that route but I like the idea of the Wilwoods (or AP, yet to investigate in detail though). Know what you mean about 'obscure pads' but I wouldn't expect it to be too much of a problem.... specially if you keep a new spare set available smile

  • chuckle* I know that my current front brakes are more than sufficient for any use I put them too but I can't help trying to justify to myself a 4 pot setup as well - they look soooooo goooooood. biggrin

Seals ....just a thought but a lot of these "race "set ups use calipers with little or no dust/grime seals as they are designed to be serviced ultra frequently, I'd double check on the ones you choose as to their suitability for road use (for some reason I have a memory that willwoods are one of these)

I`m sure Hispec are just a Willwood copy ,I heard they were taken to court ,nearly killed a TVR owner and his daughter.

If you fit these massive front brakes surely the raers need to be upgraded to balance things out .
