Megasquirt - Injectors and Pressure Regulator
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Just in the process of upgrading my Fuel Only Megasquirt to Wasted Spark. Fitted the coil packs and Trigger Wheel and ready to wire it up once the ECU has been upgraded. However the car is still running the original injectors and pressure regulator, which I expect to be maxed out once I get the car properly mapped (currently making ~315 hp on fuel only). I'm therefore looking at Adjustable pressure regulators and also higher flow injectors, but after reading a lot of the threads on here I'm a bit confused.
Pressure Regulators
Found the following on Ebay, but as I'm not running with a AFM not sure which is the best option.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Pressure-Regulator-...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-Adjustable-F...
Injectors
Ideally looking for around 30 lb/hr, But there seems to be a multitude options in this flow range. For instance the Five0 website has 4 different listings for the 30lb type 3 injectors are all listed as EV1 high impedence, but have different Bosch Part numbers. So would all these fit or are there specific fitments for different vehicles.

Mine looks like the 2nd one.
Must admit, I didn't know that they were that expensive!
As to injectors, the Lucas jobbie s flow 200 mms but for about £40 or thereabouts and £100 to clean and match, you can have a set of Vectra 250ml that will slot right in with a better spray pattern.
Swhats in my car!

This is what V8D recommended Mapassi 1:1 Linea fuel regulator not rising rate .(rising rate are for boosted engines)(Phazed for some reason you have a rising rate regulator) it`s going to throw to much fuel in when your ECU can do the job !
RISING RATE
At times, in demand situations such as high acceleration, the engine needs more fuel. Rather than program a second set of fueling parameters to deal a special situation, one can take another route to the same place by using mechanics rather than ECU programming. In this case, these regulators are used. By having it react to engine vacuum (hose to the plenum), you can have it increase or decrease the fuel pressure on demand. In doing so, you are injecting more fuel though the injector duration remains the same.
I`m not even sure if you need an adjustable fuel regulator because mine was only set at 36psi so its a waste of time .

I purchased these from the USA. 30lb injectors.

1:1 linea

Rising rate

See the difference !

I don't think the second one in my original postis rising rate, would help if they listed the part No.s though. I was looking at the FSE one because from the write up it looks like its a direct replacement for the stock unit. Does the Malpassi unit fit in the same location?
As for the injectors, there are 4 different listings for the 30Ib Bosch injectors on the Five0 site which all look identical in the pictures
Bosch - 0280155759 30lb/hr 14 Ohm (super Charged GM)
Bosch - 0280155759 30lb/hr 12.5 Ohm (Ford )
Bosch - 0280155759 30lb/hr 12.5 Ohm (Red Devil)
Custom Five0 - 013US315 (Original Bosh PN 0280155831) 30lb/hr 14.5 ohm (Volvo Turbo)
Do you know which ones you have?
BTW Sent you a PM earlier

Fitted mine .. You will need an adapter from the rail.

Yes the second picture on Ebay shows a rising rate , its a standard one ! purchased the first one from parts range with that picture on the box .i damaged the thread so ended up buying another from Demon Tweaks.
Not seen an adjustable regulator to fit on the rail ,DBLV purchased one set at 3bar to fit on the rail.

Stick with what you have unless its a problem. When you have a mappable setup it will be tuned to the correct AFR and Accel Enrichment (AE) that the engine needs. Those, whilst are a good idea, arent necassary when you can map the fuelling. I have one on mine though, but all it means is the map has been setup with it, if I got rid of it I would probably need to add some AE to the fueling, but thats all,
thanks
Phil
thanks

None of the regulators listed are suitable for direct replacement, they would need an adapter that fits to the fuel rail to allow a flexible pipe to be fitted and pressure regulator mounted where ever it will fit in the engine bay, and rising rates as said are completely wrong as well with you have a modern ECU. The only time you would want to use one is with the much earlier 14CU ECU or the 3.5 flapper type ECU that did not have acceleration fuel enrichment as part of the programming, but RPI fail to mention that small fact and would sell you something you don't need. As DAX says try out the standard pressure to start with, it only becomes an issue if you need to keep the injectors open for so long to get enough fuel they get near the end of their maximum opening time, then a couple of PSI can be added, but it then skews the whole map so you will have to re-calibrate again.

The malpassi 1:1 linea works exactly the same as the stock regulator except you can tweak it but it`s crude .The only reason mine was fitted is because i had problems with the 14cux fueling the old 4l engine.
Mine is set at 36psi so the standard stock fuel regulator would of done the same job .

I had no end of problems caused by an FSE, not the only one either I beleive. I's steer clear.I was looking at the FSE one because from the write up it looks like its a direct replacement for the stock unit.

Yeah, seriously do not get the FSE/Glencoe/Malpassi regulator, the build quality and design is utter crap. Like the fella above they caused me no end of problems, currently running one of these with no problems in 3 years;

Shall i get rid of mine and fit a stock fuel regulator ? mine is the malsappi !http://www.burtonpower.com/weber-alpha-fuel-pressu...
Thank for the info guys,
Think I'll steer clear of the adjustable pressure regulators for now.
To be fair I was planning to get the car running on the original injectors and regulator anyway, but wanted to see what my options were if the injectors were maxed out, which I think is quite likely from various posts on here.
Since the mappers aren't local I was thinking of getting them to fit new injectors before the rolling road session to potentially avoid two trips and a bit of cash.

New larger injectors does not mean a new fuel regulator ..Think I'll steer clear of the adjustable pressure regulators for now.

The mappers will be controlling the pulse width and changing the VE table. The numbers on the VE table get smaller, larger the injector .

Exactly, and they don't want to help either. Rob fitted back to standard for me. Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
