broken driver side wing mirror

I was a bit heavy handed during the time we had the snow, taking the cover off to the car to turn it over and heard the cover slide down the drivers door with 6 inches of snow on it and snap. The issue that I have is that I can't get to the grub screw which holds the arm to the door as it is facing the window. Has anyone an idea of how I can get to the grub screw without try to turn the arm around so that I can get better access to it.
Any suggestion would be most helpful.

From my experience, I doub't very much that you will be able to loosen the grub screw while the mirror is in position, the mirror leg is held to the door by a nut sunk into the fibreglass.
My advice would be to undo the mirror leg from the door and change any parts as necessary, no chance of damaging the door paint that way
