1) So, lambda sensors - how are these removed? Do I need special tool?

2) once removed, can I simply put them in my newer manifolds as a straight swap?

3) can anyone recommend new manifold bolts and a place to get them?

4) what have people used as exhaust sealant between the rear exhaust and the bottom part of the Y Piece?

5) any other Y piece and manifold swap advice you can give?

Thanks and I think you are great! smile

Nosh.

PS - toying with the idea of doing a tutorial vid of how not to f**k up installation - and prob wont do it pissed this time! smile

For the lambda sensors, I used a football pump adaptor to push between the terminals in the connector, it's the perfect size to lift the plastic tab that locks the terminal in the connector, the terminal then slides out, do this for each of the 3 terminals and you can use a standard 17mm socket as the wires slip through the drive hole of the socket.
A pair of mole grips clamped on the outside of the socket was used to undo the lambda sensor.
Removing the terminals in the above way does not damage the terminals and when the job is complete the terminals just slide and lock back into position in the connector, be sure to take note of which colour wire goes in which position.

The lambda sensors then refit back into the new manifolds.

For the connection of the Y Piece to the exhaust, I didn't use anything as the Y Piece enters fairly deep into the exhaust, once clamped up there is no blowing.

One point to note, be careful when tightening the clamps on the manifold joints, I over tightened one of mine and promptly snapped the bolt, a mistake that cost me £30 for a new clamp.

Good luck
