As I recall previous ones were mainly about the pre-facelift cars, i.e. no splitter. I keep thinking I should have a grill/mesh of some sort to decrease the risk of something nasty hitting the rad, but it would need to be a two piece affair. Anyone done this with the splitter stylee nose? Any pics? I'm intending to get the headlights faired in when or just before Spring arrives, and I'm thinking a nice grill (shiny? black? bright red?) would add that extra bit of panash (as well as protection). I also wonder why we have that vertical lip just under the extreme front curve of the bonnet... looks like it should have something fixed to it???

You can see the vertical 'lip' in the piccie..

Can you see the piccie chaps? just got the usual not downloaded red cross on my screen frown

Can't see the picture, (at time of response), but there is no reason it should have to be anything too fancy. After all, you could just as easily install the new screen by slipping it in front of the radiator, as trying to push it in from the front of the car.

No solution to this is going to be all that simple to fit and remove for cleaning (if required), but keeping it simple so that it provides protection for the radiator should be reasonably straight forward for someone inclined to building that sort of thing.

No need for two pieces.

Plain black looks best in my opinion.

I'll post a piccy of mine when the upload an image is working.

Its exactly what I did, used expanded aluminium I sprayed the couple of fixings before refitting a refurbed rad, I also doubled up up on external draught excluder round the edges of the rad to protect it from rubbing.
Its been in about 18 months now, and has been fine.

If I can find the photo I also cut out the TVR logo from a piece of A4 and sprayed the logo black on the yellow.........I will get my coat.

Can see the photo now! and the html.... had to log in using a different server smile

Looks good! neat job... I'll add it to my ever growing list smile

Will try and down load mine again where you can see the vertical 'lip' that runs across under the front of the bonnet... presume it's just part of the mould process..

Back in my company car days, I got so fed up with my aircon condenser getting holed, at £600 a pop (and I was the company FD), that I bought some fine stiff mesh, and gave it to the franchise dealer, and he cut it to shape and fitted it for me. Never had another holed condenser. he thought it was a brilliant solution, commenting that they must fit it as standard on cars sold in rough terrain.

Not that that is any help, other than to say "good idea Chilli"

Git

But yes it does, it adds to the quirkiness (via my incompetence) of the car.

Picture from the front taken today after circumnavigating Essex (hence its dirty), but you get the idea.

Thanks again Colin for pointing out the positioning of the logo, but as blue cars are faster than red you only need worry about the badges on the back of my car!

Without wanting to hijack this thread, where could one purchase a nice shiny stainless wire grill for a pre facelift car?
