Why is it that your car, no matter how much you love it, no matter how much premium fuel you give it to drink and lavish more attention than the love of your life, do they sit there plotting how to really pi55 you off and empty your wallet.
Even though, I look at her sitting there with those puppy dog headlights and all is forgiven.
More misfire issues, but wont be beaten. I think my extenders are knackered and have an irregular misfire through the rev range, and i am sure that before this is cured she will have already planned my next headache.
Sorry to rabbit on but just wanted to share frown

Just think, if it didn't behave like that you wouldn't get to enjoy those "phew!" moments when it starts first time and completes a journey with no unforeseen problems.

Besides, what would your friends find to take the piss out of you if you didn't have the TVR?

I know its all the little things like these that seperate TVR's from the rest of the car world.
And those "phew" moments do feel nice. Hopefully I'll have a "moment" later if I get to the bottom of it
Cheers Jules. smile

350 miles yesterday, never missed a beat (if you ignore ticking over at 1800 rpm in MacD's car park). Clearly a car with better taste than its owner, keen to be on its way.
Strikes me its the cars that are "she"s that cause oll the trouble, especially if you only drive them monthly.........

Have to agree the more you run them the better, any issues show up, repair and off you go again, slowly you get rid of all the nasties until you have a great car again. Each time they fail you feel a fool with bad priorities and a lack of morals, but when you get em going properly your in heaven. Funny how much people seem to think your crackers. fk em, must admit I do worry when the old bank accounts creaking under the strain. Good luck with the elec problem. Always remember there has to be a logical answer to all mechanical problems????? I think!

Thanks for the support. Trial and error has succeeded and i found 1 extender faulty. I think i will go down the "sock" route. And yes it was a "phew" moment and the smile was ever present. Is there any other make of car that can put so many different smiles on your face, Joy, Releif, Wonderment and total oral and driving pleasure.
Once again thanks all

Shouldn't be, as it was only replaced six months ago. Could be however.
I will leave it for now, as the car is going in for its anal service (not a typo - Mat Smith is doing it, so it will be done with great attention to detail). Then I will probably have a bit of a fiddle with it prior to the TD season.
It only seems to do it after running 50-100 miles at medium revs.
Thursday it was after driving non-stop from Hampshire to Hertfordshire (A3, M25, A1) at a constant 50-75. Hurricanes hardly ever happened, but it was rain, sleet and snow, and huge standing puddles, but Niggles on standard road tyres was a great drive.

Well so I thought.
Decided to go see some people and cars at Forest Row this afternoon, old girl purring along sweetly,
took a chance to overtake a dotherer in front, flew past, changed into 4th then went for 5th and no clutch.
AAhhhh, think it maybee the fork itself, as pedal is sitting halfway down and the limited amount of movement I have feels under hydraulic pressure. Managed to nurse it back home and will take it to the workshop in a minute and have a look.
I think she is jealous of Shelly as she obviosly wants me to spend all my time "fiddling" with her.
Have you sorted your high idle out Yet?

I took the extenders off and went down the sock route. Okay for a couple of months; now experiencing misfires again. Had a look at the socks this morning and they've gone white and thin where they touch the manifolds; therefore i presume the leads are now duff.

Decided I'm going to put the extenders back on as they looked quite new when i took them off and a set of new leads.

When I changed my plugs and leads a couple of months ago we (Mat Smith and I) put socks on and tried them without extenders, but decided it was better with the extenders as well as the socks - no issues to date and 1500 miles travelled.

Hi all again
Well another "phew" moment. I managed to get it to work and checked the fork and all ok removed the master cylinder and stripped down as the piston was stuck half way down the cylinder and found the return spring broken in 3 places( that explains the clicking I had when I operated the clutch pedal).
Hunted around and found a spring that fitted, put back together and alls fine.
So another job, jobbed.
Do you think the socks are needed if you have the extenders fitted, or do you fit the socks over them aswell?.
thanks for your input
Jamie

Don't know. Had no socks before, now have socks. Got the socks to have instead of extenders, but it left the plug leads too close to the manifolds

Hi QB!

If you don't have the extenders then I suspect that you at least need 45 degree (or 135 degree) angled plug leads otherwise the "straight" leads come straight out onto the exhausts as you have found.

I also have a set of the higher temperature boots sat here waiting to go on (when I make up the new leads) and they certainly do seem to come in two different temperature ratings ... the expensive ones are rated at pretty much twice teh temperatures of the cheaper ones. My cheaper set have gone white where they were close to the manifolds and I even had one of them smouldering one day!

Hi BF

I have the extenders still in place for exactly that reason. Your comment has just reminded me why we left them in place
