Hi chaps, I'm hoping to do as many trackdays as finance allows, is it worth getting my sump baffled or not really necessary, am I right in thinking that unless your using pucker slicks it's not an issue, don't like the idea of air being picked up instead of oil. If I had it done are there any negatives re- road driving, lots of miles etc. Cheers a very keen new boy errrr with no bleeding money left in the Chim pot!!!!??? I'm getting like Del boy, sell anything to pay for a better Chimi. Smile.

I looked into this a while back, there is no standard baffled sump for the RV8. I was told that something could be put together if I really wanted it but the simpler (and cheaper) option is just to overfill the oil slightly then keep an eye on it through the day.

If you doing track days get a baffled sump. On long fast left hand corners with a standard sump you can easily get oil starvation and it will destroy your engine as I and a number of people I know have found to their cost. John eales will sell you one. Cheers

I'd consider one of these - it has the added bonus of pre-oiling and can be easily plumbed in where the oil cooler holes are (plugged on the Chim)

I'll be damned, that John Eales Baffled sump is just the job - When I asked around last year there didnt seem to be anything on offer, wish I'd seen his page then.

Thats going straight on the list of upgrades for the summer !

+1 What Jes says - I too experienced the yellow light, 888's larger brakes and turning left!!

The John Eales Sumps are manufactured by these guys, who also supply the Morgan race Guys:

http://www.mulfab.co.uk/our-products/36/oil-tanks-...

They will do a deal if you have 5- or more buyers - as we TVR Speed Champs members did middle of last year.

Go on Alun450 you know you need one, just convince 4-others and you'll have a 10% discount!!

Check out their web page.

Cheers

Trev

P.S. They'll give you £25 for your old sump when you've fitted theirs!!

Alun, those sumps are the dogs what sits - If John Eales puts his name to them (plus a v large mark-up)...........The moggie owners/drivers swear by them.

Oil surge can wipe out mains & shells in a twinkle of an eye............!!
