Discussion
As per the title. Seems to have very little damage.ends tonight 12/02/2013 at approx 8.00pm
Seems a much better option than some of the "project ones" on ebay at the moment.

Cmon someone buy this if only to stop certain "salvage" establishments from buying and selling on for a profit.

I think it may have had an altercation with the kerb at the same time the rest of the damage was done.
May just be the wishbones but with that force perhaps the chassis has twisted slightly.
And what are the bits on the rear bumper above the tail pipes, Parking sensors?

isnt cat c more than minor though?
Not necessarily. By the pics it looks as though it has had some kind of side impact, with a kerb or similar. There is damage to the wing and along the offside sill. Would also assume some damage to the front and rear offside wishbones. This is not as bad as it sounds as that is exactly what [the front ones at least] are designed to do....collapse/bend upon side impact.

yes and no.the same damage could give a cat c, cat d or no cat category at all depending on what sort of assessor you get, how persuasive you are, and the age of the car - for example if pretty new a car would simply get repaired, but a few yrs down the line even simple paint damage could cause it to be written off due to cost of repair against value of vehicle
Crack in front wing means ? new wing or half-shell
Offset rear tyre - who knows... suspension at least?
Re-spray most of RHS assuming good paint match/blend
Not a lot of work for a garage or body shop but expensive, I'll bet - £2.5 - 3k?
Could be worth it at the current price of just over £3k however?
Does look like a nicely cared for car but will always be a Cat C at resale.

you can now have them moved on the register from Cat C/D to "Condition Inspected"this indicates a car was previously a Cat C or D but has been inspected to make sure any repairs needed have been done to a professional standard.
However im not sure how this affects value
Cat C/D will mean a price drop of 30- 40% over that of a similar example with no adverse history - but what sort of price a "condition inspected" car would make is anyones guess.

No surpise as to who won it - should be on ebay very soon with a good 50% mark up....
its on ebay already !!!!!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-CHIMAERA-4-5-1998-SA...
he's even used the salvage yard pics, but not the one that indicates rear suspension damage and no mention of that in the description eithwr
seeing as how there was a fully repaired Cat D 450 Chim in Blue on ebay a few months ago (in Glasgow iirc) and it made just over £5k
and a silver 450 Cat C or D (again all repaired) in the Autumn and that too wasnt much over the £5k mark
then I suspect this one may be somewhat overpriced at £6.5k before repairs

Yep, but he will have washed it first! Or should I say FURST, but in fairness it is repairable for £500 I would guess.
