Wing Mirrors - mind of their own

Hello Folks... I don't often post on here. Driving in the TVR today (yippppeeeee!!!!!) I noticed my wing mirrors were pointing down... all I could see was the road. No amount of adjusting using the internal electrical switch did anything. When I manually moved the drivers mirror back into position it just moved down again.

Does any-one have ideas why? It has been stored under a cover on the drive so wondering if there may be a short due to damp perhaps.

Oh yes... while I'm at it.... why is it leaking in the drivers foot-well and the driver side of the boot under a water-proof cover. I presume something to do with the (very slight as to be un-noticable) angle at which it's parked....?
