Just trying to get the handling sorted for the start of the track day season.

We all know TVRs are rear wheel drive except when you are heading through a hedge backwards.
We all know the rear end is light, and so there is no weight over the driving wheels.
We happily take passengers on track day laps, so we are not that bothered about weight.
So should we consider, specially on a wet track day, putting 50 kilos of spuds in the boot, in two twenty five kilo sacks? Shoudn't move much, and if they do with luck they will come out of the boot at the end of the day as chips.

Or should the weight be mobile, like a racing sidecar passenger?
My wife weighs 50 kilos, and could probably be persuaded into the boot, and to shift her weight to the side of the car that is on the inside of each corner.

I really notice the difference of the weight of a passenger on a T/D.

If you need to go faster, leave the passenger behind wink

As to wet weather, that's never bothered me, more of a challenge, just keep throttle inputs under control.

A sack of spuds in the rear would only make it tail heavy, to be avoided!

A tvr is always going to be tail happy. Just learn to work round it and enjoy it.

Good tyres, full geometry and different Tyre pressures will make a much bigger difference than putting stuff in the boot.

Putting stuff in the boot won't do anything, it adds vertical weight but also adds inertia when cornering, giving more lateral forces on the rear wheels. These cancel each other out.

I would suggest you just enjoy yourself and learn how to drive the car in the wet than trying to change it. Weight transfer smoothly and you get no over-steer (in theory). smile

There is always going a compromise with the suspension setup ,I had mine setup for track and it was bloody fantastic !

Different story on the roads ,it was terrible ,bump steer the lot .

i now have a fast road setup, still a bit of a compromise but i can live with it .. Standard settings are the best for the road but it won`t go round the track to well.

Mine is a fast road setting. Mat has offered to do a track setting to go with my 888s, but I think I will try it as it is first
