We Chim owners have all experienced battery problems with batteries going flat if we don't use them regularly. I recently saw on E-Bay a solar powered battery charger that plugs into the lighter socket and you sit the solar part which contains the suns rays collector panels ontop of the dash. This would seem, on the face of it to be an answer to our dreams if it works ok. The collector unit is small enough to go on top of the dash and could be plugged in and set up very quickly to give instant re-chargeability,anytime whilst the sun is visible. Has anybody tried this solution. I would appreciate any feedback from you chim owners who have tried this equipmentbefore I go ahead a purchase it.

Hi, There has been threads on this one but here is the news....
They do work, I use one. I also have an Airflow mains charger which did charge up a duff battery enough for my Chim to start. When I tried to re start it the battery was dead. The AA man said "you were luck not to have stopped any where else other than home after your run". since the new battery he fitted I have had no problems. I thought as the car is garaged if it started in there the battery would be good.
Get one for back up when you know you won't be using the car for a while.
There was one for sale on Pistonheads, otherwise Maplin electronics do them for £20.00
