Following on from removing my plenum and rockers for painting I got round to fitting new fuel hoses as I had queried a leak previously

however before when removing the rocker from the drivers side i had a right job getting it past the pipe below, should this bit come off ?, it rotates and appears to have a thread but wouldn't budge. Made getting rocker cover over the rockers a right pig!

Rockers look good inside, plenum a bit mucky, one side more than the other wierdly.

before painting, will post when done... still not decided black, samco blue...or red ! car starmist blue

Yes it dose come of but don't get excited putting it back to gether it worse putting them back on with your nice new finish
Top tit stick your new gaskit on the rocker top with a very small amount of RTV and sreew them down over night
You don't get the extra pain of the gaskets falling of
Check your pas res is tight as well it can give you air leak to the plenum

I got them from forum member JonnyZ, Lives in Huddersfield and does some nice bits, the fuel kit was £50 , it also includes the tiny pipe that sits behind the plenum ( beyond my patientce and skill!) and the blue anodised tips. Kit £39 without the blue ends. Also got a silicone blue breather hose for the back of the plenum.. near throttle that I dont think ACT do. Also has a stock of the socket for the 12 point bolts for the rockers.

thanks for the advice re: the gaskets , ordered some new rubber ones and thought,, bet they are a .... to get back on, especially the drivers side one.

think i'm going for blue, same as all the hoses etc.

The fuel kit and other bits can be found on PH classifieds I think.

The underneath of your plenum does not have the throttle heater plate attached. 4 holes in a square pattern. If you are not refitting it 3 of the holes will need sealing with small bolts otherwise you will have an air leak as the holes pass right through to the inside of the plenum.

Apologies if you are aware, just didnt want you refitting it without fitting them. wink

Hi Robert, If the fuel pipe union is rotating then that could mean you have a leak, which could result in a very bad day.
Try to tighten the unions or remove it as it makes it a little easier to fit the rocker cover. That maybe where that staining has come form you can see on the o/s cover. then clean the threads and refit when the cover is back on and ensure its tight. Hope this helps you.

I took that bit off to clean up and intend putting it back ,, even though it appears to do nothing, having 2 pipes sticking out not connected to anything. But appreciate the heads up as I am a bit of a mechanical novice and it is my first TVR ! Thanks!
