Try your local motor factors, take the old pump down and they should be able to match it up with a replacement. Should be alot cheaper too.

Thats an intereresting one- that looks identical to the Bosch 44, but the rated peak power use on the Bosch unit is way higher than the 250 bhp quoted here. If it has a lower through put Id expect it to be smaller as the motor / pump rotor will be smaller. confusedconfused

More generally an undersized pump is pretty difficult to detect in day to day running, as you wont really push the pump output until you hold the car flat out for a period. The engine simply leans out as the RPM rises, and the engine starts to go a bit flat and wont rev quite as it should, but it might not be bad enough to make you think something is wrong. You can only be sure the pump is up to capacity by checking the lambda output stay at around 1.2 volts up to peak RPM.

Out of interest, at what power output would the existing pump prove unsuitable?

No laugh. Also get a weber alpha 3 bar regulator.
When i had my MS fitted and mapped by Dale, he almost insisted on these as a starting point.
He also rewired the pump as the original wiring was insufficient.

I Would not touch one of those DA pumps ,i sent mine back .

If you want to stay standard the part number is Bosch 0580464008 fitted to MK111 escort .

If you refit a new one eather standard or uprated i recommend upgrading the wiring by using the excisting power feed to swith a relay then fit a nice thick live from the battery via a fuse .

I have the Bosch 044 pump ,it`s a beast and a bit noisy.

[quote]Rubbish, the escort MK3 runs the Bosch K Jetronic system and its a physically bigger pump same size as the 044 dimension wise and can run up pressures in excess of 75 p.s.i.

Only way to find out if stick a fuel pressure gauge at full throttle, max rpms, and a long uphill and if the pressure drops you know you have maxed it

well its wrong, Ford used continuous FI back then and the TVR pump would barely allow the thing to run (to low a fuel pressure).

The Bosch 044 is supposed to be good for over 500 BHP.
