Readily do-able on decent drive-on ramps (good height)? Any gotchas apart from the usual alignment faff?

Did anyone ever find a source for TVT/T5 needle race spigot bearings?

the spigot on mine is a brass bush i replaced it when i done a chassis up rebuild ! i have take a box out but on a ramp i unbolted the bell housing of the gearbox to make it easier to get out ! i guess you know you take the centre piece out of the car in side and unscrew the pannel to disconnect the gear lever ! rear roll bar off to get exhaust off the rest is strait forward

I thought I read somewhere there was a way to disconnect gear linkage from under neath without disturbing the interior? Anybody any pictures of this as I think I'll have to change mine later this year.

Unless you're fingers are 10" long and quad jointed I'd say it is much easier to take the panel off the top of the centre console and release the remote change from there, especially if you are using ramps. Look out for the two plastic bushes in the remote that the two cross bolts go through. I didn't see them at first and couldn't work out why the box wouldn't drop rolleyes

you can get it out from underneath but it is very fidderly and if you drop the back of the box down to get to it you can bend the gear shift arm !its as quick if not quicker to undo from top !

What's the best way to support the g/box; jack(s) or straps somehow? Don't fancy that lump landing on my chin smile

Done it on my Griff and have to say it is a faff but easier if you know a couple of things. I'm assuming the same on the Chimp but my notes would be:

Gear linkage:

Don't even consider doing it from below, while it may be possible it is easier from above and you can see what you are doing.

After the linkage is disconnected from the gear stick there is a small section left attached to the bell housing. This is above a chassis rail so "hooks" the bell housing to the chassis, easier to remove this.

You do need to disconnect the bell housing from the box.

Most of the time I spent swearing was working out the above through trial and error!

I removed bell housing and box as one.

Use long socket extensions from the back of the car to get to the bell housing bolts, swivel ratchet spanner for the top 2 to make it easy.

Yes the linkage rod that hooks over the chassis rail needs to be removed. Lie underneath and use 2 spanners, 1/2" or 9/16"s iirc, comes off easy!

I thought the hardest bit is those hidden nuts above the gearbox mount on a T5!
