What is the correct oil pressure for a Chim 5.0. Mine has always appeared to be around 30, but last week my gauge went mad and Simon at Offord took it in yesterday and replaced the sensor for me. I picked it up this morning and the Oil pressure seemed to stay around 45 all the way to London.

Was my other one always faulty or what?????

don't worry, these gauges are not calibrated and should be used for indication only. I had exactly the same problem and now seem to be running 5 psi higher. If you use it as a reference for anomalies you'll be fine

my 4.0 litre runs at 30-35 and never has droped below 30 even on tickover. Maybe they dont last that long, how much to replace?
Cheers

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. It happened to me once -- it would occasionally shoot up to 90psi which was clearly not possibly correct. I ignored it for a few days and it went away, never to return....

Couldn't be ar$ed to write 'Famous Last Words' Manek that's all.
Don't interpret the laugh as anything else than insane mental thoughts.
And now I wish I had writen 'Famous Last Words' because I would only had to have written it once and not twice thus repeating myself and writing many more words than was acutally needed if I had just written 'Famous Last Words' originally.
Bu$$er that's 3 times!

...three times what???

On the Griff the guage has gone into mad mode where it reads off the scale to the right before firing up and then comes down to reasonable levels when started. It then does a "Manek" - i.e. pops up to 90 and back down while the engine warms.

Trouble is that, naturally, this isn't a continual problem - would it repeat this trick for Uncle Dave when last service came up? Pretty much expect that it's sensor on its way out, but anyone had similar??
