Anyone unhappy with Tornado chip / R/R session ?
Discussion
Due to have new Tornado chip and rolling road session with Mark Adams as well as new injectors to cure a Pinking problem, I am sure I will over the moon with improvement and overall better engine running, but has any body run in to problems with this kind of work or been unhappy with end result?
Just thought I'd ask before handing over the keys and the money!
Please let me know positive comments as well!!!
Just to re-assure me

My V8S came with an off the shelf tornado in it, and it flew. Since i fitted the carbon plenum it's been rubbish but i keep the plenum on cos it looks so damn cool!
I think what this tells me is the cars are sensitive to airflow and induction changes and need a remap after any worthwhile mods, just my short arms and deep pockets don't run to a RR session so i put up with the car as it is ..
By all accounts you'll be well chuffed with your RR session, not heard anything negative about MA's work at all which I think speaks volumes in itself. He's also a thoroughly decent bloke

I have just got my car back after having a Mark Adams Tornado chip, 404 cam and gas flow heads fitted. At first it was not too clever. The idle was anything from 200-1200, it was lumpy and no great difference in performance
. I have since taken it back to Peninsular who changed the chip, and it's like driving a totally different car, No lumpy running, no idle problems and now there is BIG a difference in performance
I had MA remap my Chim in December last year. He opted for 'The American' Tornado chip whatever that was. It was a great day and the car felt totally spectacular after the session. The only problem is that after a while the difference becomes 'normal' to you. Be prepared for some disappointing figures off the dyno though - TVR's claims of BHP, torque etc are way off the mark. In fact I left the session with less BHP/Torque than TVR's claims as standard.

Don't suppose you have any figures on power before and after the mods were done do you? I've been considering having this done to my Griff and I'm very keen to know what one can roughly expect.
Cheers - Chris
had mine [Chim 500] done [with some other bits...]
- tremendous
the initial rr BHP was 255 ish, 284 after with 305 torque from 2000-5000 revs. Fabulous torque delivery.
Completely different car.
I really had it done to sort out my pinking [
] and it did it a treat.
Do it - if it's like mine you won't regret it.
PS INSURANCE
- you need to tell them to avoid any sticky situations in future.
I did mine; direct line, and they stuck 15% on EVEN THOUGH I had a letter saying that it was done to sort out running problems and my current BHP was 11% down on what is disclosed by TVR for the car anyway...
They told mne that they wouldn't increase it with mods when I signed up...
I will be changing company at the end of the year

The thing with a Mark Adams chip, is actually getting Mark Adams to do it. Otherwise it's really just a Tornado chip. This will generally improve performance but can negative affects as well.
The whole thing is to get Mark to look at the car, the injection system is so archaic and every engine so different on the RV8 - each one having weak spots and plus points. He will bring the best out YOUR engine and will generally find other problems affecting it's performance such as leaking injector seals etc so it's best to budget for a little extra.
I've been looking into it for mine and including the rolling road time in Cheltenham it comes to around £750, Mark offers a money back gaurantee on his time and the chip all you pay for is the rolling road time which he can't reclaim, he's never had to fulfil that yet!
I've never heard a bad word said about him, go for it!

like Jem had to have it done top sort out major pinking problem real increase was in torque went from 290 to 340, BHP also increased by about 35 bhp but still short of tvr figures
Also had new Bosche air flow meter and Bosche Injectors as well as Coil and ht leads, was a hit to the pocket but is by far the best money spent on the car and most noticeable difference on anything done before, car revs much better, quicker and stronger, noise within car halved, idles smooth just feels so much happier!

All you need to do now is sort the exhaust out
