Speedo transducer
Discussion
Does anyone know if the speedo transducer for the gkn diff but later caerbont gauge is the same as the btr diff speedo transducer? I'm not bothered about the calibration of the gauge as that will be done when the 3.08 diff goes in and I decide on wheel and tyre sizes
I hope that makes sense!
I have no idea how the sad smilie got in there either

The speedo sensor for ETB instruments with GKN diff is different to the speedo sensor for CAI instruments with GKN diff. The CAI speedo sensor for both GKN & BTR diffs is the same.
However I have found the ETB speedo sensor works fine with CAI speedo. Speedo calibration is the issue as I think it was only a short period when CAI instruments were used with GKN diffs.

everyday a school day and all that .....
I make you right about the Caerbont and GKN not having a long run together
The sensor signals are pretty much a muchness... It's the trigger wheel teeth (no of signals per rpm) and the speedo calibration that are interdependent. More modern programmable speedo internals can make life a lot easier in this respect (including if you want to play with diff ratios, different rolling radii etc).

I am currently running a nylon bodied 3 wire Bernstein inductive sensor that is giving a nice clean signal to the TVR signal converter (I also re-flowed some of the lousy joints but that was not the problem) and a nice wide 5mm air gap on a Cerbont/GKN set-up
so far so good.Edited by Sardonicus on Sunday 24th March 12:15
