Two weeks in and loving the Chimaera. The biggest issue so far is people trying to race / overtake when I have zero interest in racing them. I don't feel the need to prove my car is faster than a small hatchback, and I am happy enough at 'normal' speeds.

Is this a price you pay for having a TVR? Or do you think I've been unlucky so far?

In all honesty in 9 years of TVR ownership and well over 60'000 miles in that time I can count the number of times I've had this on one hand.
Had a Cayman S for 6 weeks as a courtesy car and I got it all the time....

Your in the wrong lane then! Just pull over and let them pass then put you foot down and show them up biggrin

Seem to get it sometimes, but not often the boy racer sort, more the people straining forward to try to read the badge - some of them you can see their lips move.
12 years in the Chimaera, nearly 3 in the Cerbera, and I'd say very very few were looking to race. And those that did soon saw the error of their ways! biggrin

I find the opposite, sometimes on a weekend ride out it would be nice to have a bit of friendly fun, but no one ever wants to. At lights etc I've had loads of positive comments and stares/looks etc or people shouting to rev it. Hardly anyone wanting to play though, apart from one time with a Civic Type R between a few sets of lights, he ended up being shown up multiple times infront of his girlfriend. ( this where the roads are safe enough of course seeing as though I would be devastated if anything happened to her).
But generally I just cruise around slower than I would in the daily driver, just a cruise with roof down and driving in the wrong gear normally as i love the sound haha

I keep thinking people are 12 inches behind me simply because the rear view mirror magnifies things like the bloody hubble telescope!

I think much of this is folk trying to goad you into putting your foot down, not because they want to race, they just want to see and hear a TVR giving it beans... It is an impressive sight and sound after all smile

Undesirables have never tried to race me in mine. A chav did pull up next to me at a set of traffic lights once and started revving his engine of his boyed up motor and looking at my car. I had no intention of racing him but I thought I would do the responsible thing and show him what a real engine sounds like. I think he was quite pleased with his tinny 4pot until I blipped the throttle a couple of times in mine, the smile had now been replaced with a look of disbelief. When the lights went green I was expecting him to screech off down the road, he didn't bother.

The only attention I get is owners of similar sports / classic cars, normally a small bit of safe but spirited driving or just a simple wave / thumbsup.

Tail-gaters? That's what map position 3 is for on the Emerald... the one that turns off the over-run fuel cut evil

Took me a while to get used to the mirror, thought everybody up my arse. Hopefully I've just been unlucky - there are a lot of pricks in tosspot cars around here though.

Don't know about anyone else but i seem to experience much better road manners when i'm in the TVR.

'No please sir, after you. Wouldn't want to scratch your beautiful machine now would we?'

Thanks very much, don't mind if i do!

Tailgaters not so much......."dual carriageway outside lane see if you can stay with me fkwits"..lots, especially Rang Rover Sports which is comical when you reach roundabouts and watch them sway all over the place and then on the exit you say bye bye.......................

I seem to have the opposite especially on dual carriageway or motorway people see you in the mirrors and move out of the way smile

I agree with this. It is more likely "Durr. Unusual car I've never seen before in front of my car. What is it? Must read badge" rather than "I'm going to force this TVR in front into some Hollywood chase".

Do not overestimate intelligence of motoring public. Just let 'em past where convenient.
