Is it fair to say Chimaera indicated mileages are almost always cobblers?
From my own experience, no, but not deadly accurate. In my 6000 miles of ownership the speedo and odometer was intermittentlyfaulty when I got the car. By the time it was fixed I had probably done 250 miles. Then it stuck at 70,000, but only for about 70 miles, freeing tself the next morning. Otherwise it has worked throughout. pac1uk said:
My Odometer and Trip counter stopped today, just stopped on 49399. MPH is ok.
Do I need to prey to the TVR god to make it work? Or is it a job out and find someone to fix it?
Leave it alone and it will eventually fix itself. In the mean time enjoy those "free" miles on your limited mileage Classic policy (I didn't just say that!!)Do I need to prey to the TVR god to make it work? Or is it a job out and find someone to fix it?
Sorry to hijack this, but I have the digital type odometer and have no read out at all, I believe there is a battery in it that may have died, Is it possible to replace it myself, or is it a specialist job to reset / programme the mileage into it?. If so where is the favoured place to send it?.
Many thanks

My odometer hasn't worked in getting on for three years ... been looking at the Smiths "Flight" range of gauges which look rather nice but I'd need to get a new dash cut as they're 52mm gauges rather than the 60mm of my ETB gauges and adapter rings are impossible to find over here.
What I'd like to do is get myself a new speedo fitted (the Smiths "Flight" one looks nice IMO) and run the car for maybe six months or a year between MOTs so that I can get a reasonable idea of what mileage I do in a year, I know what it was on when the odometer failed (as it had just been for an MOT) and then just use a signal generator to drive the speedo and rack up the appropriate (ish) mileage before refitting.

LOL - sounds the same as mine... Many thanks

Speedycables I believe do them and I think that ETB instruments can also do them - I'm looking at replacing mine though as mine also "sticks" and needs a tapping to get going in the morning so for what it will cost to repair I can pretty much get a new speedo.
