ACT for me.

Make sure you have the correct spanners for them, 3/8AF iirc, a ring and an open ender are best.

Job done. thumbup

Doable in situ I take it. Starter motor off job?
Any special tools, techniques?

For the 10 minutes to remove the starter, (with the correct tools again) it makes life so much easier imho.

You will need an imperial Allen head socket on an extension and "feel" the top cap bolt.

Disconnect the battery before removing the starter cables.

I also put mine on stands and remove the wheels, every little helps!

Be sure to check the manifolds when off as they are prone to cracking around the area they branch into four - you cannot see the cracks it requires a simple pressure test and some soapy water to establish. I also did mine with the exhaust in place however access is far better with it removed. I also had to buff down the ring end of a 9/16 spanner for one of the bolts as getting the spanner located properly was nigh impossible.

Once the manifolds are off try the new bolts in all the holes - ensuring they screw in nice and freely for the refit.

Be patient and take your time and it'll be fine, I have quite a few images from when I did mine - If you think it might help I can forward them on.

Cheers

Richard

Thanks for the heads up - 3/8" drive imperial hex set ordered for when I do mine. (I forgot they'd be bloody imperial!)
