My Chimaera has just failed it's MOT on a split rear drive shaft boot. Is this a straightforward fix does anybody know?
Many thanks.

Quite an easy job, from memory remove the lower wish bone from the hub and undo the allen bolts on the CV's then you can get the shaft out think the CV joint is held on via a circlip to release the shaft to put new boot on.

Thanks Chris I'll take a look at the weekend.

No need to remove the lower wishbone, take out the top hub carrier bolt (noting its position to maintain the set camber) pull the carrier towards you, this will give just enough room to access all the cv bolts and to extract the driveshaft.

Took me 2 hours from start to finish and I'm no mechanic.

Would the car then need a re-alignment?

No re-alignment required as your not adjusting the toe, the only issue you could have is with camber adjustment, however, if you mark the bolt position in the upper wishbone slot, you shouldn't require a re-check
