Has anyone ever retrofitted heated seats to their Chimaera?

For £60 - £70 you can buy a kit of 4 carbon fibre pads and controls to fit, but the question is has anyone been able to get the heat pads between the leather and sponge?

Is it easy?

Heated deaths? eek sounds nasty!

Not personally, but fixed several heated seats on other cars. Just a case of getting the seat covers off, so as long as they're not bonded on it's just patience and care. Usually loads of those metal rings. You can use a couple of pairs of pliers, or get a proper tool, or just bin them and use zip ties.

Where did you find these kits?

ive not fitted a kit to a Chim, but I have to a BMW.
wasnt difficult and worked effectively.

they can draw a fair bit of electrical power, so make sure your electrical system and battery are all good - and make sure its well earthed.
Oh yes also make sure its on a switched live - eg doesnt stay on when ignition is off.

I know some people would suggest its not the right thing for a TVR, but its def something id be tempted by - anything that makes the car more useable in bad weather is a plus in my eyes. (especially when it comes with very little in the way of weight gain)

I fitted those to my seats some years ago, they do fit and work well. It's not difficult just need a bit of patience with the clips that hold the leather to the frame, they do slide between the foam and the leather without having to remove the whole seat cover. I also put an old rubber footwell mat between the foam and the wires under the seat squab to stop the wires cutting into the foam anymore than they had.

Thanks for the replies.
Heated seats were an option to TVRs, and I could have done with them this morning with the roof off.
Glad to hear the seat leather removal isn't to arduous, I Will have a think about putting something under the pads though.
I've also got the accessory live enabled on mine so it will be going on there (well, the control anyway).

I have heated seats from a Griffith ! The only problem is I have no idea how to wire them ..I may put 12volts to the seat to see if they work .The only problem is I don`t know where to find the correct connector.

Where we're the switches located for these OEM ones?

Same kinda area as the a/c?

Quite interesting, be great of you could do a photo-how-to job of your progress and how easy it is, then post it up!

I've ordered the kit, and will see what turns up, but I've been thinking of fitting the switches into each door. I'll see if that's realistic when they turn up.

I will post when I do the job, but, ironically, want the weather a bit warmer when working out there.

Round black push button (like the boot release) fitted behind the ignition barrel on mine (OEM). Completely illogical but it's a TVR...

They are great, I used mine on the way to neil garner's open day. Lovely and warm! It would be better if you could switch them on individually but apart from that they are great when it is freezing cold!
