After refitting the dash, console, seats, door cards and radio fired it up and it burst into life and run like a dream first time in 2 months all well and all working I did do a little dance very happy
So the wife jump in and blasts of to her parents to show off the new interior
20mins later phone call its gone pop she says !!!
What gone pop I say hopping that there's not a rod hanging out of the side of the block
No it's the wheel it's rubbing and I have pulled over (thank god)
I get there and the passenger front wheel is buried in the arch pops the bonnet and the shock has snaped I thought
No the fking thing has unscrewed it's self . Well the damper rod had from its home in the top mount
So if you have guys go check them there's no lock tite to stop this from happening
Just a heads up boys we were lucky no damage and was fixed at the side of the road before the tow truck turned up
I will be dropping them off tomorrow and lock tite wil be used.

Peter

Apologies for the long rant. But 1st April tomorrow and it's taxed and ready for a long hot summer after many winter months tinkering in the garage

You were lucky your missis pulled over, good one on her part, hope all is ship shape for the summer. Just out of interest I take it you were using nyloc nuts on the bolts holding the dampners in place, I think they are 9/16 unf, if that is what has come loose.

No the shock mounts were still on the car it was the damper rod on the internals of the shock when it has come adrift the shock has split in 2 the spring was up against the manifold
