Anyone know where to get new Alloys?

Hi everyone - In April I purchased a 1996 Chimeara, my first TVR. I've had a few niggles, now sorted.

But today, I managed to throw the car into the right hand kerb of a slip road, and then the left hand kerb!

So - I need to get one front alloy and one rear. Any ideas anyone?

Regularly in PistonHeads classifieds and I've seen them on e-bay from time to time. They are no longer available new.

No need to buy new alloys necessarily though... just get the damaged pair refurbished!

Thanks guys and Girls. I'm not sure the rear can be refurbed. I think I have thre of the pieces. God only knows where the rest is by now.

Hi,

i have an immaculate set of tvr chimaera alloys. 15" front and 16" on the back.

They are on my pride and joy tucked away in the garage.

I'm hopefully getting the new spider 7 conversion end of November so they will be available after the upgrade.

Cheers Charlie, may have to have a lot of the cars settings checked out! I had a set of S02s on the rear, and I have since found out they are rather poor performers when they are slightly worn and wet. That may not have helped.

That doesn't sound right at all. SO2PPs were a very good all round tyre. The construction of that tyre and the cross section of the grooves mean that a slightly worn tyre will perform as well as a new tyre. Sounds much more likely that they were old and the rubber had age hardened or have I missed the point and they really are SO2s or you were using a euphemism and they were bald?

Certainly not bald! They had only covered about 10K, and judging by the previous owner being a family man who probably didn't have a deathwish or a need to race the local boys, it's possible they had hardened with age. I found the review of the S02 on a tyre suppliers website. If I find it again . . .

Glad that you have it properly sorted now. Sounds like age hardening as you mentioned. BTW not that it matters much but for pub quiz time are you aware that there are significant differences between the SO2 and the SO2PP? I do wonder which tyres you had and which the review was of.
