hi guys, first drive after the rebuild and i think the oil pressure is quite high - it seems to increase linear with rpm now. it didnt do that before - it was always quite low. i had stripped the oil pump and cleaned it out, also cleaned oil strainer and put new oil in it. 20/50.

if i rev it to 5krpm i get nearly 60psi on the gauge - never drops below 30 ish now.

sticky presure relief valve?

Mine did that on the standard sender, which stopped working recently. On the Ebay sender I've just fitted it sits around 80-90 mark.

I did want to change the oil pressure relief valve, so if somebody could point me in the right direction as to its location and where I can get a replacement, I would be very grateful.

On my eBay sender, at full temperature I get just under 60 psi anywhere above about 2,500 rpm, and it idles just over 30 psi. Cruising at lower revs gives somewhere in between. When cold, it idles about 50 psi.

Hi Chris, I had this worry when i first got mine and thought, well at least it has pressure and was going to check it when all the electrics were sorted. Then there was a thread started about low oil pressure and the reports of the tvr sender reading low, and the ebay one reading correctly, the readings are the same as you have and many of us have.

Only start to worry if you see readings over 70psi, then investigate...

I get similar readings to Dr Mike Oxgreen with the TVR sender from the PH seller which mirrors a diagnostic mechanical gauge give or take a few PSI has expected wink

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss!!! On my TVR style sender, I used to get between 30-60lbs. I now get between 80-90lbs on my Ebay sender. Car seems to run fine though. Sometimes it drop to around 70lbs. I'm of the impression that the only way to get a true reading is by replacing the TVR gauges and senders with some of the Smiths ranges.

Where can I get a new relief spring? It may be worth replacing, I can't seem to find one; however, the car had a new oil pump 6k ago. I do have a slight weep from the oil pressure sender on the side of the block.

Personally I would ignore the readings for accuracy and just check it for consistency, if it changes then investigate. I use a mechanical gauge to periodically check mine
