I've owned a Chim for almost 4 years now and must confess to not having a clue how to access the boot in the event of the solenoid failing!

Prevention is better than a cure they say. Do what I did andcensored. Never needed it yet but it is there ready. I realise it will not work on an earlier Chim but I am sure you could find somewhere to terminate the wire.
