Curiousity is getting the better of me again. Anybody got a list/table that details the cam specs (lift/durations/LCA) for the various offerings available for the RV8? Or if you've got an oddball and know the spec then more info on the application would be great smile

Thanks in advance guys,

Chilli smile

Hmm, their durations are a bit short and they're a bit light on LCA info scratchchin I have no doubt these are great cams tho....

I'm using a Kent copy, slightly different to the Real Steel Tornado cam.

You do come up with some cool topics Chilli, I've got a kent 885??! You now sound like doctors, some other language to mine?

My cam feels quite predictable if that makes sence.

I'll check and see if I can make out the differences in the data!

Out of interest if it makes any sense at all, my bespoke one is;

304 deg inlet profile, 12.49 valve lift
310 deg exhaust profile, 13.08 valve lift,
@ 110 deg.

David Hardcastle "Rover V8 Engine" p178-181 lists nearly 50 cam specs.

It is interesting Peter, comparing yours to mine, the lift on both inlet and exhaust is as good as identical, whilst you have 4 degrees more duration on the inlet and 5 on the exhaust. That said, my LCA is 114... Be interested to see a dyno of yours, to see if the power and torque curves resemble each other, and where you're making peak torque.. I suspect the cars might be very similar to drive smile

It's always fascinated me (although it's relatively easily explained) how the torque and power numbers can swap places.

I was told that the greater the number, ie 114 degrees compared to 110 degrees, the more the cam will have better manners.

Hairier cams are usually 108/110 degrees iirc.

That's why I was p1ssed off when the monkeys set my timing at 117 degrees.

Yep 'spreading' the LCA will reduce overlap, and hence maintain low speed vacuum etc etc.. The more I look into cam specification the more It becomes apparent just how many factors you need to consider! Out of curiousity do you have a good low speed idle?

Thanks for that carsy, I have read it before but never bookmarked it and couldn't find it smile The cam I'm currently running is one of Rob's bespoke grinds biggrin

I've just read Robs explanation post, ruddy marvellous.

One point, my car breathes much better since re build, it's faster, combination of small factors adding up, that and a longer suck from cam then! Duration and height etc, I'm learning!
