I don't think I've ever come across another marque that so many people miss once they've moved on. It can only be a good thing. smile

Thanks guys

Sold the old car as in a hissy fit after a month of solid scottish rain and not using the car.

While I do like my 350z (its actually a very very good car) its just not as special as the Chimaera and if honest too usable if you know what I mean.

I was thinking about a Cerb or maybe a Tamora but now pretty much sure its going to be another Chim.

For me, best set up is a barge for everyday duties and a TVR for pure fun. Also, although mine hasn't turned a wheel for a shamefully long time, I still derive pleasure from just owning the thing and planning improvements and all that.

swisstony - I've gone the other way. After my body off rebuild the paint and interior do look rather worn and crying out for change. Here's the BUT; I love driving the car so much and yes in all weathers that 4k on a respray and 2k for new interior would soon get scruffy again. I drive the car every day which is around 12k a year and just ensure everything mechanical is 100% at all times.

I've simplified my life a lot by getting out of the commuting habit and down to just one car - the Chim. If you don't need space for more than two persons it's actually very practical, unlike Morgans and Caterhams it's quite comfortable on long trips and I don't know of any other vaguely interesting cars where the cost of parts that wear with mileage rather than time - brakes, tyres etc - are similarly cheap...

Roof panels and some interior parts do tend to get tatty with use (the leather seats are actually quite resilient) - but they're all repairable/replaceable.

How true that is. I'm still in mourning for my first 500, and my 2nd 400. I've not known another car like it to get under your skin!

It's like a beautiful woman, hard to live with but you can't do without, lol lol lol. Hurry come back ASAP, lifes problems make us take drastic action at times, all I know is if you know your tiv's already, find a cracker to start with, all the money has been spent and you could have a very reliable car. Chimeara, represents the last usable classic in my eyes, get a good one it won't cost anymore than a euro/ Nippon box, yet you have the best fast soft top sportscar on the road for the money! There so cheap now. jobs come and go,your pride and joy lives whatever. It's your personality your selling, well it is if your as one dimensionally minded regards Tvr as I am! Blind faith

I must get out more. Goodluck with selling or buying but if you own already try to hang on to her/it/beast. There unique!

+1 - I don't have any other car (I suppose there's my GF's Honda Jazz) and use the Chim every day ... it doesn't feel any less "special" after 3.5 years of everyday use! biggrin

Have to agree.
I used mine as 95% the every day car for 4+ years when I first bought it.
It was only after I bought a near new cabriolet (because it had 4 seats), that it really got some rest from me driving it.
In my experience it made every journey a special occasion, even doing 12k+ miles per year.

This car is absolutely BEAUTIFUL
http://www.tvr-hhc.co.uk/UsedCars/view/497121

£3000 recently spent is the last service to get the car in top condition for a euro road trip.
Lots of bits done "just incase" such as:

New rear shocks
New wishbone
New accelerator cable
New fuel pump
New fuel hoses
New braided brake hoses
Silicone air intake pipe
New master fuse replaced by a midi one
Upgraded brakes
New roof seals
Leven wipers/alu stalks and switches
Etc
Etc

Well worth a look!
