Mine is located in between the two speakers on the rear shelf..To be honest your main objective would be just get out ! you need a proper Plumbed In Mechanical Fire Extinguisher System ..There not that expensive and will save your engine ,car and life !

I have a small one on the parcel shelf and a larger one bolted to the floor in front of the passenger seat.

If the track rules require you to have one, I'm surprised the rules don't say something about where and how it should be mounted.

FWIW, I keep one on the floor behind the driver's seat.

I've done dozens of TDs and you don't need an extinguisher but I like to keep a couple handy, it is a TVR!

I watched a Marcos set on fire with driver un conscious. Petrol tank split and dripping fuel onto exhaust, boom! To stand there on the wrong side of the fence and see the flames getting closer to him at the same time a Marshall comes running from 200 yards away, seemed to take him 10 mins, driver was ok. Hospitalised but ok!

So if you install one which do you go for , water, foam ?

Silicones right, big accidents that can lead to fire your normally knocked senseless, how you gona activate it. Peters is best you might be smashed up but could probably still activate it with your left arm!

Seeby I'm at Marham, only got booked yesterday, I hav'nt checked! Pain in the arse. I agree you should have one. It's the rear of the car that concerns me! Can i use one from haulfords? Better check the Marham requirement!

As Peter says most official trackdays you don't need one! Bloody eck it's a jet plane base, they must have a fire engine. Lol.

Wouldn't want a powder extinguisher going off if I was still in the car, if i wasn't already dead think I soon would be !

Normally AFFF does the job. Also has to be a minimum size. I agree w
e should all carry one. After racing offroad for many years and seen many car fires. Some were stopped in seconds. Others weren't, which one would you rather have

Lads, they are about £30 and you can fix them between the speakers at the back. They come from all car places including Halfrauds. Good idea to have. At least Marham don't noise test you, so you get to run long as you are quieter than an RAF Tornado.

What is the best size AFFF extinguisher to get, 1 Ltr or 2 Ltr.

This 1 litre one is what I got - a bigger fire than that and you don't stand much chance of putting it out anyway furious
