Electric mirror relay

I have a fault on my mirrors that when you use the switch to change to the passenger window, the passenger mirror goes down and stays there.I am wondering if it is a relay fault, if so where is it from and and has anyone any idea how much, also i have a slow elecy window any ideas, cheers Mike.
Your's is an ealier car to mine but I think the circuit is similar - please feel free to correct me someone...
Do you have a black joystick thingy and a rocker switch? - if so then I think we have the same circuit...
Anyway, assuming it's the same, there is only one relay which serves both sides of the car - it changes which circuit the gets the power - either the lefty-righty motors or the uppy downy motors.
If the mirror doesn't go back up on one side it probably won't go up on the other side so I think The most likely cause of the problem in your case is the rocker switch - although both the joystick and the rocker switch failed on mine with similar faults. In the end I replaced mine with an ally push-button jobby, similar to the later cars.
Check the connections to the rocker switch first, then try a new rocker switch (Maplin or Halfords probably have something similar) If that doesn't fix it then a new joystick may be required...

Err, yeh, that's a tad baffling!
For this to happen there have to be two shorts...
Has this fault just developed or has it never worked? I'm wondering if there was a fault that someone's tried to fix in the past and got the wiring wrong when they put it back... or left an extra wire in there connected to something it should be connected to...
I'm thinking it could be a combination of the connections to the rocker switch are wrong and there's a short elsewhere in the system...
Can you check to see if either the terminals at the up/down mirror on the left hand side are floating? Check the voltage on each terminal relative to both the negative and positive terminal of the battery - I believe they should read nothing in all four cases. If they read something then you've found one short...
Also, out of interest... does the drivers side mirror move at all (up?) as the passenger one goes down...

when i got the car origonally all the wires to both mirrors had been cut, after hours following the wiring diagram from the bible i finally got them going all except the passenger problem, and no the passenger mirror does not move when you play with the drivers.
i shall try what you sugested hoopefully this weekend and keep you posted.

Yay .. seeing as it's my diagram in the bible maybe i can help? 
still sounds like a rocker switch probloem to me .. try this plan .. hold the joystick as if to send the mirror up again, and simutlaneously move the rocker switch rapidly between the middle position and the mirror with the fault .. this will hopefully clean up the contacts and the mirror glass will start to move in teh right direction eventually.. you can also spray contact cleaner inside it too .. I've "fixed" many a mirror fault this way. the rocker switch rarely gets used and often corrodes the internal conacts .. new switches are cheap enough anyway in case you wanna try that route too.
