I want to remove y piece, is it a case of undo at pipe below engine, undo both clamps at manifolds, and pull apart. Do you need new gaskets or whatever when you re connect. I'm getting sadder and sadder I want to polish it!

How do you remove Lamda's ?

Thanks Alun.

Sadly no Alun.

You have to drop the rear ARB and the exhaust I'm afraid.

Up on 4 axle stands!

Ok, I can see that! Cheers Peter. I'll wait til it's warmer then! That's commitment for you.

Question still remains, how to remove lambda's

Seems you need a narrow socket but then the wires!

I'll bell Dom tomorrow and bore him aswell, lol lol.

I did mine with the 2 back wheels on the ground, removed the u clamp, then 2 manifold clamps and wiggled it out. No gaskets needed (as said, clamp type). Did need a ratchet strap to pull it all back together though.

+ 1 yes

Exactly as described by Harrytsg.

No need to drop the exhaust, so no need for ARB removal.

i have probably changed over 200 cams on the chimps, so in peters defence here i have had to drop the exhaust twice, very rare but it can happen

I got 27hp from decating the stock y

I think the stock decat/act/Clive's come down to how pretty you want it, availability and how much you want to spend

I will stick mine on the bay when I'm well enough to get to the garage and take a picture

Alun, you can buy special sockets to remove lambdas without cutting the wires. Not sure this is exactly the correct one but lots more on ebay.

Any pics Andy of the use of ratchet straps to pull back the manifolds onto the Y piece. Looks like the swirl pot will be in the way on mine. I managed mine yesterday with two levers on the side of suspension main bolts. A lot of grunt effort this. When I undid the manifold/Y clamp the assembly jumped out of line. Then a bugger to pull back. Wonder how the factory TVR boys did it?

The same way probably, apparently you would regularly hear the screams of young boys from the factory, must have been connecting up the exhausts, lol.

No pictures I'm afraid, but I did release the swirl pot bolts to give a bit of movement, and the ratchet strap is 1", so reasonably narrow, it was a bit of a pain to do, well not a pain as a slow process- strap to close gap enough to chet clamps on, tighten clamp, tighten strap, tighten clamp...... You get the idea.
