I am trying to replace the spark plugs on my Chim. Any tips for removing the extenders, particularly on nearside? - I cant unscrew them as the angled end fouls the manifold and I cant seem to just pull them off. Shredded fingers already.
Cheers. Chris

They will pull off (not screw). try and get both hands on 1st, straightish arms and jerk your weight backward whilst uttering a sharp oath.

Put a looped shoe lace (like a noose) or similar around the body and yank up swiftly, be careful if you use pliers as your likely to cause damage.

Thanks - some success. The two by the oil dipstick are a nightmare, but will try the laces trick.
Are they really necessary? Tempting to not refit.

Took mine off as they were loose & rusted. Cured the missfire & she runs great. The leads get close to the manifolds but if you have the leads with the short head they won't touch. thumbup

I've got a set of "make up your own" plug leads with 45 degree angle boots which I'm hoping will allow me to get rid of the extenders for good!

I like my extenders, perfect to keep the leads from the manifolds.

I fitted good quality Excell Yank leads adapted to fit my Ford coils, (thank you Simon) finished off with a set of plug lead "socks"!

Two front plugs point rearwards. Two back plugs point forward. Get your pull angles right and they pull off easy.

Where did you buy your parts from? Fancy going down this route myself.

I've ftted the cut to length Moroso leads from Real steel and dispensed with the extenders.

Routed from my coil packs located behind the plenum the leads clear the manifolds without any issues. However to be on the safe side I bought a set of these protectors.

Could not budge mine at all - in the end bought new ones and smashed the others off with a cold chisel - after picking up the parts i saw that the clip that holds them on was never going to move - the flat faced bit was stuck under the lip of the spark plug terminal. Hope the new ones are going to do the same.
Pure frustration made me smack the hell out of them - but it worked with no damage (i was replacing plugs anyway).

The leads were from a US eBay seller and the Ford Gen 1 Coil Pack ends were again from eBay from a guy who is in Guildford.
