biggrin

After a morning faffing around I managed to get to RAF Marham around midday today... A big thanks to QBee for registering me so I could get into the base thumbup

I didn't want to track beastie having just picked her up with a front end respray... Anthony very kindly offered to let me track his car, but for various reasons I declined, but a massive thanks for the offer.... Top Bloke biggrin

A also offered me a passenger ride, which I declined, because, even on the road I'm a crap passenger, really, I hate being driven....

And I met Alun450... An experience in itself.. another first rate top bloke, and an absolute pleasure to meet biggrin When Alun offered to take me on track in his car I knew I'd have to say yes or spend what little time was left being a spectator frown

Alun took it easy, I don't think we did much over 150, and the 90mph corners with the back end twitching were only mildly bum clenching biggrin My biggest concern was the door latch letting go and exiting the car stage left on the fast right handers smile

Anyway, QBee and Alun450, huge thanks, a thoroughly enjoyable (if slightly scary) afternoon and I am so looking forward to the next time we can do this again...

Oh, and a masive thanks to the organisers at RAF Marham, and Swannee in particular... awesome event smile

Chilli smile

Well it is only a 450 Chilli. Can't believe I took her to 160 odd flipping hundreds of times, I now feel so guilty, by crickey she's running better and better!

Richard it was a pleasure meeting you and taking you out, I only took my time because I'm a bad passenger too. Lol your car is unique. Fantastic. I think you'd hit 180mph in it.

I have to say a huge thankyou to Anthony QBee, for his hospitality, such a shame his Saturday was interrupted by the old 100 fuse amp, and engine worries, a bit of tweaking, he's got a hell of a car coming on.
I'm glad he enjoyed hours of free motoring on Sunday, contolled revs but pushing non the less.

The RAF chaps were a credit to our forces, I absolutely loved taking fit stong young highly trained focused men who had active service records, a bomber, imagine he's got to keep cool at big moments out on track, they all came back to the pits, beetroot red sweating, they all loved our cars, I admire there skills so much it was fab to see there shocked yet delighted smiles, made my day.

That Marhams an outrageous place, nuts, barmy, foolish, yet wow, what a track, the tight complex stuff, it's like a massive cart track, technical clever sections with just cones and horizon, really attack them, brilliant. Long off camber corners so fast.

It would have taken me 3 track days at a race Cicuit, barriers and narrow Tarmac to get the knowledge of the car at a race circuit I achieved at Marham

No Chilli don't worry Peters car handles, grips,Got great brakes, accelerates like the clappers, and is driven proffecionally.

If I'd had some good rubber it would have been much smoother feeling. I could have ran the shocks even harder!

You can pull some impressive G's in our cars.

Alun, mate, I thought you understood cars? TVR are pedigree sports vehicles. All the farting about we do in traffic on the Queen's highway just clogs and sts up every orifice. You just cleared all the accumulated st of months with those 160 mph blasts and constant fast running. No wonder she feels better.....

I let two of the RAF guys drive mine.....and they had a ball. Young geezer called Matt, who put the power on too soon and spun it. Kept apologising, but it was all part of the fun, and he learnt a valuable lesson in a safe place.
And Rob Swanson, who had owned a 95 Chim and drove really well, enjoying my newfound torque out of the corners. He earned that drive, not just by organising the whole thing with George, but also by cheerfully answering my endless emails. They are a credit to our forces and themselves.

Well said Anthony as with their very difficult day jobs, they bring a level of dedication and energy that is long gone in so many aspects of british life.

They performed as good as our British engineering against all the foreign objects in our way. Lol.

I've cleaned the car up, the leather was a good idea,

It seems the fast runs I did blew out the cats or something? The car sounds better than ever. Louder.

The engines loosened up now, she's so happy she just sings.
