I'm in need of some front caliper bolts (1995, 500)and always thought that the hubs and calipers were all Sierra/Granada parts but from what I can tell Ford used a regular hex-head bolt on those models? If that's the case, what are the 8mm allen bolts actually from or what is their specification; the bible is mute on such matters scratchchin

Any assistance much appreciated. Cheers.

You can use Ford Sierra/Granada bolts if you like not quite sure why TVR fitted those corrosion prone un-coated Allen jobbies, I have new old stock hex Ford bolts front an rear.

Thanks for the info guys. If I went the allen route again I assume M10 thread? Any idea of length required so I can get new ones before swearing at the old ones for several hours?

So I've eventually found a Ford dealer that remembers what a Sierra is and they advised M10 x 25mm for most models with M12 x 35mm for Cosworth models. Does that sound about right to those that have seen the bolts not fitted in the past?

A lotime ago now but I'm faily certain it's the 25mm you need. Just get rid of the rubbish Allen heads and replace with Hex - you can get more purchase, better grip and less chance of slip/rounding than the allen heads have.

Just measured mine as I have removed my brakes as I've gone bigger, and they are M10x30 if you just measure the threaded section which I believe is the norm when speccing bolts and the like.
Should be loads available on line or local bolts supplier,eBay even
Lots on eBay

Thanks for the heads-up, I was just about to buy some 25s! thumbup For the cost I might just buy both.

Allcap Ltd near me want a mere 17p each for 4x M10x25 and 18p for 4x M10*30. Cap head only on 12.9 at most places but hex available if you want a lower grade.

Just to confirm that mine were also M10x30 and when stripped I found that 30mm was necessary to account for the spring washer and caliper spacer that I guess the Ford may not have been fitted with?

I've just fitted the 53mm high disks but noticed that the 58mm high disks were about 30% cheaper when I was shopping for them a couple of weeks ago. Having found the spacers (that I didn't measure the thickness of - 3-4mm at a guess?) I wondered whether actually the 58mm discs would fit just fine if the spacers were removed? Can anyone confirm as it the 58mm discs are far easier to get hold of and at better prices.
