Back Lit number plate
Discussion
Hi,
I need to get a new rear number plate (back lit) and have gone to Fancy Plates as they advertise a backlit plate.
Now I know in the scheme of what I'm paying for the engine repairs on my car, £34.50 for a plate is nothing but it does seem a bit pricy to me when standard plates are only about a tenner.
Anybody know anyone else that sells them a bit cheaper.
Thanks,

Thanks,
This lot do a pair for £26, one translucent for £20. Translucent is an option in the rear size menu.

Hi
I only Know of 2 Places that do the translucent plates and unfortunately they can charge a premium for them. Craigs plates and Fancy plates. I have had to buy 2 sets in 3 months and tried to find cheaper.
Sorry ive not been much help
Jamie
I have a back lit number plate and was told on one MOT that it was illegal (honeycomb type, speed cameras have trouble reading it) now my understanding was that it was not retrospective. If the car was built with it you do not need to change it.I still have it fitted illegal not????I only Know of 2 Places that do the translucent plates and unfortunately they can charge a premium for them. Regarding legality, our plate lamps are hidden so the translucent plate is the only one we can use else "nick nick" for not having it illuminated.

When you do get a plate, there is a useful mod you can do to make the back lighting look uniform (and sweet)....I need to get a new rear number plate (back lit) and have gone to Fancy Plates as they advertise a backlit plate.
