So today the central locking has decided it no longer wants to work. frown
The cars an early Chimaera with the key hole push buttons, I can lock each door independently but if I do the twist/turn to centrally lock the car.....nothing.
If I arm the (aftermarket) alarm, all arms but no 'lock'.
My electric mirrors don't appear to move either but I bet I've not touched these for 3 years so no idea if that's new.
The manual appears to say the fuse for the mirrors is also the boot lock and that's fine but then the chances of every detail in manual being 100% accurate are slim.
So any ideas, when I get chance tomorrow I'm going to pop the fuse but anything else to look at/for?

Check your door pin switches are both working correctly. Seems to be a common cause for central locking not working.

I think that the interior light switches are involved with the central locking, so it knows if the doors are shut, check that the switches are operating ok using the interior light or just holding them in at the same time ( spare pair of hands required). I had a simular problem and that turned out to be the module itself faulty. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly

Had a poke around and I can't see anything obvious. frown
Noticed one of the rubber blocks missing from the door where it pushes the switch in, got all enthusiastic thinking 'that'll be it' stuck a new one on and....nothing, after a session grovelling around in the passenger footwell I couldn't see a suspect fuse, and everything else appears to be working confused
On the bright side, playing about in the passenger footwell prompted me to take the seat out to sort out a tangled seatbelt mount and by doing so found nearly a fiver in loose change. smile
And as it's an early car with keyholes I can at least still lock the car so it could well stay like this for a while unless anyone has any other ideas?

Seriously .........

For the sake of 30 seconds a side you didn't prove the pin switches ( electrically ) are working?

Elminate the simple stuff first, then strip the CL relay under the dash ( LHS) to see if you have a faulty relay of connection, or bigger problem

I found a dry joint on the central locking relay on mine, re-soldered and all was well, I bought a speare but not needed to fit it (yet).
The relay is (on mine) under the dash on the LHS, I'm tempted to say give the dash a clout but the alarm unit is next to it.
Can you here if its working?

Can't hear any noise coming from anywhere, whatever should be doing something is most definitely 'dead'.
Think I'll just live with it for a while, I never have much luck taking the dash top off, one simple job always turns into 5 hard ones. rolleyes
