Breakdown cover, credit card and mobile phone. Forget the bulb kit - you would never manage to change the front ones at the roadside. Never been asked to show a bulb kit in 40 years of driving in France. Its not actually a legal requirement to carry one - however it is illegal to drive with a duff bulb (no different to UK then).
Corkscrew & wine glass
cheese knife
2 hi viz vests
triangle
Driving licence, passport,V5,insurance cert & mot. You must carry these in car at all times, and I have been asked to produce on several occasions
Enjoy the D roads !!!!!!!

As above plus .....a selection of fuses, some coolant, litre of oil and bobs yer uncle.

If you have breakdown cover the car won't miss a beat, if you don't it'll break down for sure! ;-)

Enjoy, the roads are fantastic!

as above plus spare throttle cable - the French wern't too keen to assist when mine snapped on a Bank Holiday Sunday as law dictates it will at the most inopportune time!

Don't forget your EU certified breath testing kit (twin pack).

I kid you not nono

The breath testing kit became a legal requirement last year, you must carry one or risk a fine, just like you must have the two fluorescent vests and a warning triangle.

Oh, and the French Police now have the right to confiscate your Sat Nav & give you a massive fine if you have speed camera locations loaded on it.

In practice it would be extremely unlikely to happen, but don't say I didn't tell you if it does wink

I always carry a few likely spares like a spare throttle cable, coil, rotor arm and the longest HT lead.

Other than that, put a small tool kit together.

With a TVR your tool kit should always include a test meter, a long length of twin core wire & a selection of crimp terminals.

Mobile phone, Euro break down cover that repatriates you, & a credit card are essentials.

I also recommend a Telepeage Transponder if you're planning on using the motorway network, it'll make your life soooo much easier at the tolls.

Finally, make sure you prep the car thoroughly and you'll be far less likely to have any issues.

Above all enjoy the trip thumbup

Breathalyser requirement is not being actively enforced : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

It seems the minister responsible may have had some "interest" in the company which makes them.

I believe the breathalyser law has now been rescinded.

Don't think anyone has mentioned stick-on headlight beam converters - just a few quid.

You only need GB stickers if your number plate doesn't have the blue European symbol with "GB" on it.

Check your breakdown cover. Mine won't cover a car more than 16 years old outside the UK.

Also, download one of these. Was a great help to me after an accident and it helped bridge the language barrier.

In addition to stuff mentioned above; I'd add:

1) Longest HT lead
2) Fuel pump/immobiliser relay
3) 'Normal' relay.

Think you have to carry a first aid kit in France.

They sell oil and coolant in France.......Mob 1 is half the price it is in the UK.
Fuses? Yes, I thought every TVR had those in the boot so didn't mention them!!!!
