I've got a pretty nice example of our mark, heres the issue,
Do I trackday it, knock it about

Or fill in every stone chip as they appear,

Do all the mods but just enjoy the odd mad day out,

The reason why I pose these questions is because the car is so nice, I think of how it went on track, like a jack rabbit, I look, and feel really bad.

As it is with another year of cleaning and payin the car would be a collectors piece!

I'll never get my money back, so wish I'd got an old one and just re built.

It just seems so good, it's only done 50.000 and ive done more than 10.000 of those!

I feel a bit criminal for driving it so hard, it's so happy at burbling speeds you could enjoy touring in it for years.

I'm not sure what to do, this is an emotive subject Track versus road use.

I'm happy to hear all views,

I think I'm thinking of the extra maintenance that's required maybe!

I need two's the obvious answer but the gods have transpired and said no flipping chance. Lol

It's each to their own choice Alun. Only you know what floats your own boat. Only listen to yourself.

You can always get an old Golf for trackdays if you want the best of both worlds. Look how fast that two tone one went?
There are loads on EBay for under a grand , turbos too.....

Mark.

You can have the most sorted, best looking Chimaera out there - but it's no use stuck away as a garage queen - and even if it was absolutely mint with not a spot on it and you decided to sell you'd never be able retire on what it'd fetch.

So get out there and drive it! Had mine fully sorted once, interior all lovely, brand new paint job, everything mechanical sorted - then I got a stone chip and was gutted, then another, then another, then thought - Oh fk it what's the point in worrying.
These cars were made to be driven, you'll get much more of a buzz using it than worrying about the next stone chip or bit dropping off - and these cars just love to be driven properly.

You know it makes sense biggrin

Your both right, it's the extra headiness that roaring a Tvr at a corner then contolling the power oversteer that makes them better than the others, I'm sure every mile I did on track was tonnes better fun.

I'm already thinking of doing a few sprints, same great company but knowone spinning in front of you, or throwing stones and even diesel in one case, in your face, diesel I'll have ya, no place for that stuff a race track, lol.

Aarrh I'm just having a moment! I love racing but I love cars looking spanking!

Anthony I have 125 gearbox cart in the shed, new engine the lot, loads of wheels blar blar, hellish quick. I should get it out and clear my head!!

Nah thinking of flogging it and buying errrr brakes, tyres maybe, half a turbo, new bushes on and on and.

I'm going to solve a major part of the problem, have a word with a bodywork mate and see if he can blow in the front twice a year. I don't like the stone chips!

I feel that once it's re bushed underneath and new brakes its good for hours of track use really without the car worrying to much.

Gearbox bush first, ironic as it's the only part of the car that's not had repairs, new oil only. Typical.

Hi Alun,I would say a bit of hard driving for a day or two every now and then aint gonna do much harm .For as QBee says they were built for it. Sure, things can go wrong with it ,but it can go wrong on a Sunday afternoon drive out. As long as you look after it generally (as we all do )a few extra stone chips aren't a lot to worry about . Just don't do Marham too often !!. It took me 2 days to clean the front of mine and touch up the stonechips. Get that exhaust sleeved ready for Titt wavey

Colin just the man, so tell me again what spec is your exhaust, I like it!
Touching up, I've got a tub of the cars colour I'm thinking of airing it then dabbing a blob into the tiny holes left by the chips, how did you do it if you don't mind me asking.

It's addictive is trackdays, I want more and more, im just peeved business is flat so can't do things quickly!

Hi Alun ,My exhaust is perforated pipes out,and solid pipes in,and pack the wadding stuff back in.Ive left all cats in.Stonechips ,the best way I find is ,spray some paint into the can lid and dip a wooden toothpick in and dab onto the chip. That way you don't get too much paint on. Just work your way round and then round again as the paint dries quick enough. Its obviously never going to be as perfect as a respray ,but its better than seeing all those chips. smile

Nice one Colin, I've polished the car today, Feck there's hundreds of little chips everywhere. If the weather holds I'll have a go tomorrow. Exhaust, that's really interesting, Colin can you remember what your static db test result at Bedford was ?

I'm going to try the de cat Y if I don't like it I'm going down your route, bang on.

One question does it resonate loudly on motorway runs. Cheers Al

Didn't know you drove at 53 mph on the Motorway, Peter? Middle lane, hands gripping the wheel, flat cap on head, staring straight ahead, oblivious to truckers?

I think you can get a spray can of anything made up.....ask Chris Brown, in Downham Market. He made me up some Starmist Blue. It made a proper job of spraying my roll cage prior to fitting it.

I think I'm in a losing cycle with this, I've just spent the evening by a lake parked with loads of Classics, cool, I polished mine before I went. First time I've used polish on it since re spray. It's looked brill.

Alun ,my static reading at Bedford was 103db. Then I put those insert things in and it came down to 99.9. Mine is fine on long boring M/way journeys, but you could always leave the inserts in for those journeys.
