SO2's Rear's - SO3's Front?
Discussion
S02's Rear - New SO3's Front - Is this combination going to be okay, or do I need to change the rears from SO2 to SO3 to match the new front tyres?
The rear so2's are fairly new having covered maybe 1,000miles. So if I lower the pressure by 2psi in the fronts wearing so3 will the car feel balanced or should I replace all four? (How significant will these tyres affect the balance of the car?)
If I do need to replace the rears as well, is there any demand for lightly used tyres? What sort of price could I ask for them? Anyone interested?

Are the rears SO2 or SO2pp? If they are pp's I'll buy them off you and that will solve your problem.
Alternatively if they're SO2s then there're probably not too different from the SO3PPs and problem solved again - apart from the fact that all SO2s are now probably so old that they have age hardened and should be binned.
Should be OK, just remember the S03s like to run a couple of PSI softer than S02s. You would normally run the fronts slightly softer than the rears, but with this combination you will need to increase the difference. Also with new tyres on one end only, remember that one pair of tyres are nicely bedded in and the new pair will produce much less grip until they have been scrubbed in and cured. So be prepared for some serious understeer if you get near the limit of grip.

That's why I said probably. Lets face it it's a pretty wierd scenario for a tyre place to go to a fair bit of trouble to order an unsuitable and unusual tyre when SO3PPs (or SO2PPs before that) are more suitable and available off the shelf.
Thanks for all the input. The rear's are SO2's and not PP's. I'll be putting the SO3PP's on tomorrow and shall give it a go for while, reducing the fronts pressure by 2psi from the book setting. What is the difference between the SO2 and SO2PP's - and why would the SO2's pair up better with the SO3 than the SO2PP's?
If anyone wants to buy the SO2's now from me, they were made in November 2003 and fitted to the car 2 months ago and have done less than 1000 miles, please email me.
