Whilst I'm 'in there' and have the top part of the engine off, I was considering fitting a catch tank to prevent my plenum from filling up with gunge. How do I go about it? Would I simply connect the catch tank inlet hose to the flametrap and then the outlet hose to the plastic T shaped connector before the plenum? Would it reduce engine breathing in anyway?

They're a fairly cheap mod.

I've just found this (via Google Images of all places).

Would be interested to know how you're getting on with it Daz and if you changed the installation since that point.

It's a tricky one.

I'm experimenting on a setup right now.

I just cut the existing pipe down and fitted it to a sealed tank (without a breather) then purchased some good quality silicone hose from ACT then connected that back it to the plenum ..It will work like the standard setup and help to collect the oil.

I now need to decide what to put in the tank to help pick up the oil..

Nice one, thanks for that. I see that your installation is quite tight in front of the plenum. Is it not possible to manually empty the filter every so often? Also how did you mount it? I was thinking of doing it in a similar way to the PAS bottle, but was thinking of mounting it here for ease of access?

I may move it to that area ,at the time one of the coil packs sat in that position. I can still drain it no problem..

Thanks for that! Has it effected the PCV at all? I'm just about to put a new valley gasket in and don't fancy it going again due to pressure!

Also, I thought ports were all rough around the ports from casting... mine seem to be port matched. Normal on a 500?

Have you seen this web side? They sell some nice shiny bits for reasonable prices!

Some of their catch tanks are baffled too, so they catch the oil and not just the vapours. Whereas the cheap Ebay one aren't baffled.

Would 13mm outlet be okay or is it too small to allow the PCV system to work effectively?
