I bought V8 1VAR for the reserve price of £250. I've just bought a 1999 TVR without seeing the V5 and I'm waiting to find out if it's a V plate.

Bloody hell ,only the government could do this ..

They would not let me sell a reg from a Midget because it did not have a MOT..I had the declare it as scraped and then they sold the number plate ..Make me sick !

Result. My 1999 "blind" TVR purchase is a V Plate. V8 1VAR, or if you prefer, V81 VAR, can go on it. Anyway, don't DVLA just specify the minimum spacing, so I could get them to space it like "V8 1 VAR" and still stay right side of plod.

You space it how you like, no one cares unless you get a tug!

Mine has been mis spaced for about 15 years and only one pull for a titchy front plate.

My plate has irregular spacing, pulled out in front of a Police Car this week and didn't get tugged. It would need to be a real slow day for them to get uptight about it imho.

The problem with giving you a tug for something minor is that they have to put their coffee and bacon roll down, fill out 18 forms, get wet if it is raining, and all for a £30 FINE. Hence why they don't generally bother. There is always a bald scottish stickler bd exception to this rule of course - just hope you don't pull out in front of him

When I've been pulled for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt they've never even mentioned that my front plate has been missing completely ...

... they have however on both occasions started debating who gets to drive it back to the station if I fail the breath test that they always seem to like to give. hehe
