Today, on run out with Mrs chim666 I had what I initially thought was a throttle cable snap. A subsequent check revealed that the cable was ok, but both large nuts holding the threaded guide (for want of the correct term) through which the cable runs before it meets the throttle linkage had come right off (sorry about the vague terms...the right words will come back to me in time!).
A bit of a faff later and I'd managed to thread both nuts back on finger-tight, which got us home.
The problem is, with the linkage and cable assy being beneath the black mesh in front of the windscreen, getting a spanner onto the nuts is nigh impossible.
I've nipped the nuts up pretty tight, but really would like to remove the mesh to get a spanner on properly - I can see a pop-rivet at each end of the mesh, but I suspect it's fixed along its length under the screen rubber somehow.
Could somebody advise me how it's fixed please?

no need to remove the mesh you can bend the mesh up gently and bend it back again it seems too much of a job to remove and replace mesh i had to bend mesh when removing the plenum with the thermal trumpet plate in place

Added insurance: marked both nut and thread with permanent marker to check for any movement.
