As thread tittle suggests I'm in the middle of what feels like open heart surgery on the queen!!!!

Both the key fobs are cream crackered on my original meta alarm! Oh dear!

I took the one that did work apart and the micro switch has broken off the board!

After a number of calls I've come up with abacusalarms.co.uk. Had a chat with Sam, read the site details and I've decided to send them my M99T2 alarm box so they can re program it and return it with 2 new fobs for £99 and returned within two days, that's bloody good service or what.

So I had to tackle the ever fearful dash top removal to get at alarm.

After initial worry, can't find nuts etc, got the left two off easy, then the right, by Feck could I find the nut, hands in places a pervert wouldn't enter, long time later I've had enough, pull the darn thing and the top comes off like a wes knickers, just like that! No nut no bolt just a big hole where someone else has pulled it through and off.
FFSake. It's good really now I can at least fix the right side with velco, and it's a 2 min job to remove.

Myth busted.

FFS the cars been re sprayed and had the top off the dash at same time, ever heard of an air line to blow the paint dust away. The wiring and all the electric boxes are coated. st like that really pisses me off.

I'm glad I've had to do this job now, it's got me thinking whose the frigging amateur, me or them.

Oh I do go on, anyway the cars disconnected guts hanging out and wirings spotless. Send off the box tomorrow hopefully get it by the wk end.

Another black spot sorted for awhile.

Errrr so this thread has an actual point, now ive disconnected battery and removed alarm
When it's returned to me do I just do the opposite of removal, re connet box and battery and fire her up!

Oh if you could see the way one of my clocks has been secured, laugh !! Cardboard, nice.

Yep I reckon I could shave a bit here a bit there.
Do what 33 seconds,,,,,,, next time remember the decimal points cos I'm gonna be hot on ya tail, lol
I'm buying wing nuts tomorrow and I'll start practicing.
33 seconds was that with two nuts or three. If it's two im on you, if it's three I'm screwed!
Does that include the two screws hiding the left nuts.

Is this all nuts or what I can't even remember what the thread was about.

Oh blow me it's this sad alarm thread.
The very big positive that this job has given me is that I should learn all the elec components while the tops off, it's given me confidence to crack on with stuff myself, is that a good thing you may ask!

I've been really awear of my lack of proffesional skills/knowledge re these cars, after today I'm starting to feel like a proper owner, the raw arms are surely my way in to the club.

I payed to have my dash put in, now I see it I can't believe I didn't do it myself.

Confidence is a wonderful thing in the right hands.

Yeah I feel more intermit with the old girl now I've had my hand up her !

Cheers mate, sent off by special post, should recieve it on Saturday. I'm also getting a spare immob key.
Pleased as it's been pita for awhile.
I've realised I could still drive it without the alarm but now the Dash is off I will tinker for a few days!
Give the girl a rest, I drive for drivings sake some days so all in all I'm hammering the mile meter!
Since engine re build in December I've done nearly 5000 miles.

I'm trying to get bored with the car ,,,,, nope it's not working!

It's true, when your cars running good you just can't get enough of it, when it's stopped and awaiting repair it just builds up the momentum to go again!
At the rate I've been going I need 3x 6000 services a year? Need to stop doing so many pointless if totally enjoyable journeys!

I'm just working that out, batt drill for glove screws, ratchet spanner for 10 mm nuts.
Yank!
Thats pushing the envelope!! I'm lobbying the FIA for a rule change!
QBee, I burst out in laughter at that,
Seeby, mate my gearbox is iffy, couldnt get it into my mates place on Thursday cos the alarm, once I'd worked out I could still drive it it was to late!!
My silent exhaust it'll just leave me red faced, lol
Yeah I was going to put gasmonkeys old Y piece on! I got some drill attachments from Haulingfords and was going to buff it up! Ive spent 10 mins on one side and it was looking good already.
I think it's about time I found out what power my cars got on the rolling road!

Anyway no chance to investigate the gear lever bush! We were going go bodge the old one until a service at Power in a few wks!!!
Oh well it's tvr life.

You never know I might just turn up yet, it was supposed to be a chance to show my eldest son some of the buildings I worked on, why I was away alot when he was young, bonding and all that!
We'll see!
Funny I'm getting very pragmatic about the car, if it works fantastic, if it doesn't ok what's got to be replaced and each time I feel like the cars getting fking newer not older!

I can see a time when the cars had all the mechanics replaced/ repaired, then all the electics will whither to dust!

It would be nice to bring all the wiring upto date.

My FS1E fizzie as a kid had better wiring!
