A private days driving at Bruntingthorpe, any takers?
Discussion
Hi guys, I have been hatching a plan to get a days use of Bruntingthorpe airfield for Tvr cars only.
Now this is still just an idea but I have a friend that knows the owner of the place!
I will be discussing it tomorrow evening.
I'm well awear airfields can have stones everywhere, So before I commit anything I will personally walk the track to see if we can get a smooth road.
There's lots of detail I need to check up on but essentually I'm just wondering if any of you guys fancy a chance to drive your cars fast in a contolled private environment.
I have been to an airfield trackday, chaps it's a nightmare getting stonechips etc so long before I ask you guys to commit I'll confirm if the place is stone free! There's also a big issue with general trackdays and cheap cars slamming themselves around you, no no no, if were together then we can keep it clean.
The airfield is virtually dis-used I think.
At this point I'm just gauging if anyone's interested.
Thanks Alun.
I know this thread should be elsewhere but wanted to ask you Chim boys first.
I'm hoping I can have as little as 5 cars there, the more the better so if we can get a gang of Chimearas together maybe we could call it
Chimeara power fest!!!! Yearly or even twice yearly event!
There a bunch of fantastic ex RAF engineers who all own old fighter jets and tinker with them all day. Old rocket systems all sorts, an RAF grave yard and I reckon the boys there would our cars.
What do you think of the idea, they have jets for a skid pan! Now that's a challenge in a Tvr, you'd learn how to keep the car out the hedgerow!! Your skills would be improved overnight!
If I can show my friend I have some interest he will convince the owner I'm sure of that! Subject to legalities of course.
Regards Al.

Yep I should do my homework, loads of stuff still going on there. There's not much point saying much yet but in essence it's all about just the TVR's.
Most events on track are very expensive, if we could do something for charity etc, depends on owners.
I'm doing this because I want track time and if it makes economic sense. We'll see.
Nice one Seeby, that's the idea .

Bruntingthorpe is good fun & doesn't take much remembering. Have done the annual ASDA day there a few times. Did have a very bad reputation for stone chipping tho. They're quite sensitive on noise now I believe (ironically as it was a jet base for the RAF & there's still a few about), you might want to see what they allow db wise.
