Does anyone know how to adjust the boot lid to close a bit tigher. The shut lines are a wee bit out on mine and after fitting a new telescope arm thing it seems to sit a bit high on that side.

Any ideas.

Its warped like mine ,caused by the boot stay. Took mine off and hope it goes back in to shape ..

But can we adjust them at all ?

Happy enough to undo one end of the strut when parked up and leave a thick book on that side to help it settle again

Would be a pain to fill the tank if the strut was totally of

I spent hours trying to make mine a bit more level. I ended up struggling to get it back to how it was before I started. When I got it straight the lid wouldn't click shut. I was only adjusting the catch on the boot lid, rather than the hinges, but I would leave it be. Mine has eventually stopped annoying me.

It would sit flat if another catch could be made and fitted further along to keep it down ..

I assume that you're talking about an older (pre-'98 or so) Chim? If so, I had a problem with my old 4.0L whereby the boot didn't really close properly, causing it to leak. It looked like the boot lid had warped a bit under the constant pressure of the one boot stay.

I didn't manage to find any good solution but, instead simply pulled up slightly on the seal around the boot to give a reasonable seal but this clearly didn't really help the lines of the car (it didn't change anything externally either though).

As others have said though, taking the boot off and leaving it a while may help...

Mmhh right got all that guys thank you for advice

Next step just parked her in the garage ( rain expected Saturday well it is the weekend )

So I undid the strut at the lid end and was able to adjust lid on the hinges by gently moving across 2mm looks more even now.

As for warp on strut side it more level so to help I've got a blanket & 2 bricks which are now resting on the strut side of the boot lid and heh presto its back to normal lol

So will be looking at leaving her parked in garage with strut off with bricks on boot lid for a while

Now to work out replacement for strut to stop the pressure off it pressing on the lid when closed

Any ideas guys ??

Note to self remove bricks before driving off lol
